Has one of you guys a (rough) figure of costs to replace the bearings without having a damage yet? And what would be the cost of the (better) not OEM solution bearings?
My M has 72000 km now, I will replace them now....you can never be sure how they look like and I rather prefere to change them too early....

Well so far, new oil pump R9700, bearings from bmw, and you can get one oversize, R5500, a set of rings R8500. Hassle is I can't get a single conrod, they only come in sets. And a set is R40k... Any of you got a rod with the M10 bolts lying around thats in good nick? 
It looks like that journal will cut clean at 2 thou. Just keep fingers crossed that the crank didn't bend there. What about timing chains etc? Wouldn't it be a very good time now to sommer change them while you in there? Crash I must get to a pc to see those videos of yours.

The timing chain is good for much longer but suppose it is cheap enough to replace. Look at the guides and the tensioners. Forged imported conrods are much cheaper than what BMWSA want, also not sure if a new oil pump is really needed. Rebuild crank from BMWSA with matched bearings is also not that expensive if you bitch and moan at the parts counter.

Tehwalleth I just did. 18k for a crank and bearings. And peace of mind that it is a new crank. I would like some input as to oil pump options. I cant imagine that that oil pump is faulty, and i dont recall reading about oil pump failure on these engines.

I have VAC uprated oil pump internals. Much more stronger and also pumps faster.

Me i am leaving my oil pump as is when the rebuild starts. Unless something failed in it i see no point in fixing something that ain't broke.
