Woah. At first I thought I only hear the awesome engine rumble. But you were not joking about the whining noise. I have never heard that one before.
If you sit in the back of the car when someone else drive it, could you not hear more accurately where it is originating from? The great thing about a touring is, at least you can put the seats down, unlike the sedans where if it sounds from the boot you cant pin point it from the back seat.
NOONE IS ALLOWED TO DRIVE I BUT ME!!! LOL..
I guess im going to have to start Fault finding.
I sent the Old diff away to get checked out.
I drove the car last week to langebaan for the Week and she drove fine. other than the annoying noise.
Im going to see this weekend to get my bro to drive while i sit at the back and listen..
Im thinking of Tapping a stethoscope to each trailing arm rears and listening while someone drives.
Will do the diff also... and maybe the gearbox too, incase its the output shaft bearing.
Now to find a scope long enough ....

Maybe put the car ons jack stands had it have rotate the wheels, blip of throttle you might be able find the noise? Remove the wheels so have less spinning mass. And be gentle on the throttle.
It sounds hell of a risky but that is what I would do. :hammerhead:
Have looked at or replaced wheel bearings?
I have tired that, With traction off ofcourse but it seems like the wheels must be on LOAD in order to hear the Noise..
I layed under the car with a scope, with the wheels in the air and cousin took the speed up to Between 80 and 100 and lifted off throttle and could not replicate the issue...:dunnoanymore:
(I LOVE DOING RISKY THINGS) LMAO
About the bearings, This is what makes me think its the rear left trailing arm bearing...
Remember the rear right Castor was out?? and i found it to be bent??
That 330i had suspension Damage..
See what the Rear left looked like after ripping the Wishbone up:
another thing i remembered, The Rear side shaft had to be M$%Red in to the up splines. It did not slide in with ease like it was supposed to...
I scouting for another full rear left trailing arm and im going to replace that whole arm. then see what happens
Silly oversight from my end.
Thanks for the input thus far guys.
So after being on leave for the month of April, I decided to swop the "New" panels and lights to my touring..
In progress:
Also, while i was on holiday, My cousin decided to spoil me with these Plates.
Registered the New Cape Town Custom plates
Will post up pics of the Car with the Fresh, str8 new panels tomorrow
Replacing the Steering rack this weekend, including the Rack ends, Stabalizer links, Shocks etc etc..
Need to remove the Side skirts and front bumper to prep for Primer...
Im toying with the Idea of Spraying the car in Hockenheim Silver. but will mix up a sample and see what it will look like. I may have Messing Metallic Paint for sale soon if i change my mind on the colour.
