So just my luck...

Whenever i book off for leave, I GET SICK!!!
This time it was Tension Headaches... And this i get when im NOT STRESSED about anything... Golly

Anyway, so most of this week, i was in pain. and the Heat did not help much either.
But i managed to get some work done

So the Original plan was to remove all the dents and Swop the facelift parts to the wagon.

Then Primer all the worked parts in preparation for Respray the past weekend.
All i got done was Swopping the panels onto the car. :blueCry:

I had black Fenders But opted to hunt for Silver ones instead.
The bonnet is not to my liking. so im going to source me another bonnet thats in better
condition...

On with the pics.
And yes, im aware she currently looks like a well used Prostitute with smudged eyeliner but she is on the road to recovery. will just take a bit longer...
:sorry:

New Silver fenders

Had an Eventful weekend
Started Hearing this Whiring Noise so Saturday past, i decided to hunt for the noise

Started by removing the AC belt and started car
- Noise did not go away

Then removed the Alternator V-Belt and started the car
- Noise Went away

I spun the Waterpump Pully and to my horror, this 2 year old water pump is DEAD (Bearings) !!
I spun the Tensioner Pulleys and the AC one was fine but the Other 2 was Busted!
Tensioner Pulley and the Alternator pulley.

Stripped everything off and i realized the true extent of the damage...

V-Belt
1zvflec.jpg

Hydraulic Tenisioner Pulley looks Out of shape
And the "Shock" of the tensioner itsel was Broken. including the Holder
2uidorc.jpg

Alternator Pulley "KEY" was Ripped clean off
x0yc29.jpg

Damaged Parts Needing replacement
PS: Please Pay attention to the Circled Bolt... The story gets Better(Worse)
6rssrb.jpg

The new Parts...
I went with the GMB waterpump from MasterParts.
the one i bought at Goldwagen 2 Years ago was the SIL brand which i was not familiar With at the time BUt will definitly not Buy again.
GMB pumps i had no issues with on any of my previous E46s
qywprp.jpg

I searched 3 Dealers in CPT and managed to get these two very Elusive bolts for the Hydraulic tensoner and tensioner itself.
Big ups to BMW in Claremont for always keeping their Stock rooms with stock
107rjew.jpg

Back to this Pic,
Yes, while tightening everything up, I managed to snap a bolt that holds the hydraulic tensioner to the oil filter housing...
6rssrb.jpg

Then i had to remove the Entire OIL FILTER HOUSING to get the Broken thread out
29m3dsk.jpg

After calling Thread Butlers to assist, they confirmed the Done working for the weekend ( Allie had things to take Care of that Saturday evening and Sunday )
So on Sunday i tried this myself( from Watching Allie work ) and managed to get the bolt removed without damaging the thread
4r6g4g.jpg

So yesterday i assembled everything and Strted the Car.
NO NOISE!!! Yippeee..
Checked for leaks and no leaks...
Went for test drive and came back to find its PISSING OIL EVERYWHERE!!!!!

So i stripped everything down yet again
This is what i found, When i removed this Bolt, the thread came with it:blueCry:
ekm592.jpg

I Called Allie from Thread Butlers After hours.
He left where he was, went home to fetch his van and Came through to assist.
New Helicoil
n2mkn8.jpg

Everything assembled and Working 100% again

This is how Quickly a simple Part replacement can go Wrong
Moral of the story, If its tight, Dont try to tighten more!

Recently the Replacement 3:38 Diff i installed Started Whinning Slightly

Being proactive, I decided to hunt for a Replacement STOCK 2:93 or another 3:38 diff.

Our Good friend Gizmo hooked me up with a One.

Just need to arrange courier to collect.

1znosgl.jpg

As mentioned before, i was not too happy about the Fenders and bonnet that i installed on the car. Too much rust on 1 fender and the bonnet is wavy..

So i did what the SO hates, Pulled a trigger on another Parts car last night and took her home.
:fencelook:
and she is PERFECT for what i need Brand new tires and str8 as an arrow
Motor was completely rebuilt September 2018.
November 2018 engine seized.
After they stripped it down, They found an "Imbalance in the crank" whtever that means..

A torque wrench is a wonderfull tool that prevents pulled threads stripped bolts and oil leaks.

Good work all the same.

Hot damn that car actually still looks in good condition aesthetically. If you stripping for parts, I see the interior looks gray. Could I buy a few of the interior parts from you?

AND A BONNET....

And maybe better headlights ... LMAO...

The idea behind it is, Why pay 10grand for the spares at the spareshop.

When i can buy a whole complete car for 10Grand..

This way, this project pays for itself, with a little bit of profit for me:thumbs:

those who bought from me before, you included ( lol ), know i dont sell the parts at Ripoff prices... so the stuff sell very quickly

Indeed that is true, got 2 last year to cover the full range of torques and it's a blessing having that peace of mind that parts are torqued correctly, no chance of over or under tightening.

For the R2k it costs once off to get decent ones its well worth it, especially considering the cost of spares and labour, and especially vital in places like valve covers and sumps with rubber gaskets where over tightening destroys the gasket and means leaks soon crop up. Many many other jobs where correct torque is vital and means the parts will continue to be serviceable in future.
