Keep it as you can make an active exhaust using a 330i exhaust system. I have the flap in the exhaust controlled by a switch on both e46 tourings.

330 + 6 speed all mounted up. Busy commecting all wiring
2e2iau0.jpg

She fired right up. Instantly
:blueCry:

Eish she sounds so good

Ran into 1 issue thus far, 1 of the plugs for coil plugs tht goes into the box where the ecu sits was diffrnt.

Thnkfuly the colourd wires wer identical to the 325s so snipped the wires and soldered on the 325i plug

Will post image of the plugs tmrw

Plans for day 3, swop the prop and diff and assemble the front end. Blead the brakes, service and test drive:blowheart:

Have a good evening. Im def gona. Lol

Out with the old

Why is there what looks like an old wooden steering wheel just lying on the floor in the corner?

Lol. Thts n old beetle steering. Its not wooden. Its hard foam. The vinyl is off.. Pretty useless steering. My pitbul plays with it. Hahah

Another issue.

Propshaft. Lol

325i diff cups are all differnt. So cannot use the 330i prop shaft as is

325i prop has the splin on the first half of prop
330i has the spline is on the second half of prop

Noone wants to attempt to remove and swop the ujoints. So looks like im installing the 330i diff too.

So my next question, if i choose not to install the rear brakes frmthe 330, will the side shafts fit my brake hubs? Or are the splines differnt

If not, will install the entire hub with trailing arms and complete the brake upgrade to 330i.

Will post up more as i do that. Too damn hotto be working outside today

Also, the Side shafts are Thin, 1 sized and the 330s are Thin in the centre and thicker on the sides.

The bolt Gaps that connect to the Diff on 330 are wider apart on there than on the 325. so 325 shafts i cannot use

Anyone has the Left rear side shaft for a 330i they want to sell??
Thats the one thats is broken. :'(

As promised, This was the plug thats Different on engine loom

PLans for tommorrow:

Remove 325i Diff and install 330s Diff
Will also connect up the Prop Shaft

If all goes well with the above, i may just Fit the 330s Rear trailing Arm/Hub & calipers

Managed to find a rear left side shaft by Bruce BMW. they will need to confirm its the same.

HOPING i do not run into any other crap after this. LOL

My weekend swop turned into a WEEK swop..

Looks like she will drive when she is ready to :eek:mgwaiting:

Have a good evening

So hows progress?

Diff and prop is installed. Struggling to find a left rear side shaft. Found one at Bruce spares. Collecting tomrw amd then fitting the rear trailing arms both sides.

Will then fit exhaust, bleed the brakes and top up fluids.

Post pics up tmrw

AND SHE IS DRIVING AGAIN!!!!!!!:smilebounce:

330i FTW!!!

SO completed what was left.
Installed both trailing arms, Big brakes Rear installed too. Topped up all the fluids. Bled the brakes and clutch and installed the Exhaust

Double checked ALL bolts below the car to make 100% sure everything is tight.

Issues Before Test drive:

* Engine had a misfire
- Pulled each coil pack.
- Issue on Cyl 1
- Changed Plug and issue resolved

TEST DRIVE WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!

Issues after test drive:

* Coolent Temp sensor Pipe had a leak
- REPLACED it and that was solved

* Speedo does not work
- This seems to have triggered other faults:
* ABS Light is On ( plus the other one )
* KM Range jumps like mad up and down while driving
* Handbrake Light is also iluminated ( Figure i did not adjust it right )
* Vibration when Cruising between 2000 and 3000rpm ( Possible PRop issue?)

Plugged in Delphi :
- Both rear speed sensors not reading
They seem shorter than the 330i one so thinking i need to move the 330is
Sensor over??

I figure if those speed sensors are sorted then should not have an issue

@Gizmo

- Can i move the 330i sensors over to the 325? Plugs the same?
The Speed sensors on 330i already looks longer
- Will this affect the KM Ranger or L/100km not listing up issue to??
- And about the Prop shaft, it ligned up pretty good, You think i need to remove and take for balancing??

Will post up pics tmorrow

THANK YOU

Pulse generators are the same from 318 to M3
You should have no problem changing them.

Also if you changed the drive shafts from the 330 to the touring you may have a different tooth pattern on the axle and that is why the speedo and ABS are dead.

Quickest way is to check the drive shafts to verify.

I used the 330 diff but it had the small output shafts for the 325 drive shafts so I got no errors.

With regards the prop take it off and balance it

You will need to run the 330i abs rear sensors if you running 330i trailing arms. 325i sensors won't work.

I Just love the Mtech 1 Bumper

Going Rebel With not rear bumper ( was too lazy to fit it )
6yjzo5.jpg

As the guys mentioned above,

* Prop needs to come out to get balanced
* Rear speed sensors of 330i to be installed

HOPEfully that sorts out my issues..

Once those are done, Plan to prep the body work for paint next weekend
Im back at work today and it happens to be my standby week. so no working on the car this week

Car is at NB Mechanical Workshop today for a check-up. Wife's cousin will install the Speed sensors for me and Check the prop out..

STAY TUNED!!!

Why wont the sedan springs work??

Sedan left, wagon right
2sbwdpu.jpg

Other than the obvious extra coil on top and bottom of wagon spring, The Rubbe mount things are identical and they fit the wagon like a glove

Mind you i did not install the sedan springs. she has the Stock springs all round

I just realised your touring is pre facelift and the 330i is facelift. The facelift 330i has blue plugs on the rear abs sensors, the pre facelift 325i touring will have grey plugs. They are not compatible, you will need 330i pre facelift abs sensors which have the grey plug.
