I just realised your touring is pre facelift and the 330i is facelift. The facelift 330i has blue plugs on the rear abs sensors, the pre facelift 325i touring will have grey plugs. They are not compatible, you will need 330i pre facelift abs sensors which have the grey plug.

They all two wire plugs right??

you sure i cant just break the plastic keys in the blur plug and then fit it??

IF not, will need to source a pre-facelift 330i for its sensors..

I checked etk for a part number om the speed sensor on the 2001 wagon and 2005 330i.

Part numbers are the same?
Etk also shows FROM 2000 models.

Out of interest sake, I have 2 330i cars. Both only have ASC, where one is facelift and the other is pre-facelift. So I would assume in that case, they both have the TEVES system.

Do you remember if the 330i had the ASC or DSC button?

Also, it looks like, if the car has only ASC it may need the inductive sensor.

Actually, load up the VIN of the 330i on ETK, it will show if the car had:
S210 Dynamic stability control III

Thats what I have on my 318i with the DSC button, which is a 2003 car.

Thanks bud
I checked Both on ETC

Its too confusing...
I remmember ONLY seeing ASC button in the 330i and My 325 only has the ASC button

Correction... ACS/

BUt i could be wrong

Will check the ABS module i have at home on the 330i.. must still be removed..

Will see which one it has

I checked the 330 i Module, Shows DSC

Checked the wagon, Shows ASC

So ya, the Sensors wont work from the 330

Anyone has a pre FL 330i stripping for spares??? i need 2 rear speed sensors

OR, if i replace the ABS module with the 330i's one, Can it then work?? since i got the ECU and all of the 330i

Or am i BS'ing myself

Yeah going from ASC to DSC is a lot of work and components. Decided against that retrofit a long time ago

Find the right sensors, don't make more work for yourself.

Ok. so im looking for 330i Pre-faclift Rear Sensors Where the car is using ASC module and has Grey plugs

Will take samples with to find it..

Thanks Gizmo/Tinuva

The l/100km Digital and Needle does not work, the Fuel range gauge jumps like crazy ( Its not the fuel pump. test both 330i pump and my 325i pump and both does the same ) and the speedo dont work ofcourse

you recon all the issues i have on the cluster should be fixed once this is done??
i did a Cluster test and Everything works.

the guys breaking up 330i's are asking STUPID prices for the these sensors. My word

So i called Goldwagen,

They have a DSC sensor ( Blue plug )
and
They have a NON DSC sensor ( Grey Plug )

the NON DSC one works across the range apparently, 318 i up...

Will this work??

@ Gizmo, Since you done your conversion and used the M3 Rear, which Sensors you used???
WAIT. you have a Face lift so you probably didnt need to change them

Eish. im going to take a chance to order the ones from Goldwagen and see what happens.

@tinuva, can you not supply me you pre-facelift VIN to check etk to see if the Part number on the Sensors are the same???

Maybe gizmo can chip in.

On realoem using my vin I get this page:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=AN56-EUR-07-2001-E46-BMW-330i&diagId=33_0840

So for manual transmission it shows the following parts:
21 Pulse generator, ABS rear 2 09/2000 09/2001 34521166126 $165.65
21 Pulse generator, ABS rear 2 34526752702 $165.65

For automatic:
21 Pulse generator, ABS rear 2 34526752683 $165.65

I bet if I get into my car I am going to find 34521166126 since my car is 07/2001 and FL 330i cars started 2001/09 or 2001/10

So i went rebel, and i broke the plastic guide clips on the Blue plug and plugged it into the Wagons socket

As Gizmo said, IT DO NOT WORK!!!:blueCry:
even after clearing codes, Same result

took delivery of the New "Test" sensors for 2001 330i, they look identical to my wagons with the grey plug
R410 each.

Will fit them tonight, clear codes and see what the outcome is...

Prop will come off on Saturday and sent away for balancing.
Installing the front Springs, new control arm bushings, side skirts from Msprt and to check for ANY leaks on engine and box..

I drove her daily for this week to work and eish, Loving it..

Hate not having a Speedo tho. using GPS for speedo now.. :roflol:

Thanks for all the assistance thus far

Got the right sensors

Lol... hope i have the right sensors supplied from Goldwagen

Everyone i called only has 2... Blue plugged one and grey plugged one...

I cant find any information if the Grey plugged one will work with the 330i Shafts..

I found this on E46 fanatics which explains my dilemma but it does not say what sensor to use.

https://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=18165042#post18165042

See the gaps from the OLD GREY style plug with the Later style side shafts

All i need to know is what is the right sensor, Partnumber, Supplier, Where you bought it from, etc etc etc..

Cant i just Swop the Old bulky outer CV to the newer still side shaft??? then i can use the Grey plugged sensor no problems...

Top is my old shaft, bottom is the New shaft currently installed...

27y5x1e.jpg

Top Shaft OuterCV is big and its ABS sensor is short

Bottom shaft outer CV is small and the Sensor is longer..

If i use the Bottom shaft with the Grey plugged sensor ( the right one for my car ) the Gap between the sensor and the track it reads from is huge

otj9u1.jpg

So it ends up not getting a reading

NO WHERE have i seen a GREY plug with the Later longer sensor on it so what now :blueCry:

What is this right sensor you talking of.. lol. im losing my marbles here

You need to pull the sensors off a pre-facelift 330i, they will be the correct length and have grey plugs.
