We are missing the front timing cover steel gaskets and there is no stock of them to be found.
Agents reckon 2-3 weeks so we are trying Obama land to see if they can send quicker.

Project stopped temporarily due to insufficient spares.

Still no manicurist although I have been assured that in the next video you will be exposed to one of my favourite composers/artists.

Looking forward to it.

Equally looking forward to the link of the music to one of the ice cream-hot chocolate runs

Bare block

A piston after the first clean and ready for polishing.

Final product ready to soak in cleaner overnight to get the rest of the gunk to dilute from the ring lands.

Screwing in the ARP studs.
The angle of the block is correct for ease of screwing in the studs.

Bruce I use ATF and 2000 grit paper as well as Prepsol and elbow grease.

I think elbow grease is a must.

I then also use a buffing wheel and compound to get the shine.

As with all things moderation is a pre requisite because if one gets carried away one may well end up with pistons that are too small for the bores.

Aluminium in general responds well to prepsol provided it is not left in the solution for a long period of time as it has a tendency to make it black.
