Saw an M5 with 40000 on the clock going for R750k or so.

also saw this....on the other hand, a M235i is not the worst car in the world.

let me throw a spanner in the works

Why not consider a 1M? Or alternatively, there are a few M5's that can be had for sub R800k at the moment....... unfortunately the Current M3/M4 used prices are still hovering in the R900's but I am sure they will be in the R800k region in 2016...

I was looking at a 1M also, offered a friend of mine the same but he wouldnt budge. Anyway, I would only spend this kind of money a new car though and I would also like to keep the car for the next 5 years plus with a motorplan.

M3,M4 and M5 are amazing cars but just too big for my liking now. Its the reason I have a 1 series and the reason I like the 2 series (even though the 2 series feels much bigger inside than the 1'er).

You should consider buying a Golf 7 Gti or 7R. These cars hold value and ul have a car to use for a year. By selling your 125 now, you will also get higher value as you still have motorplan. In a years time, the golf wont be hard to sell when the right deal comes for M235i or M2.. Jus my 2c

What about just waiting. And if the M2 is more than you would like to spend, and there is a huge price hike on the M235i, find a demo M235i, hopefully with the extras you want.

Oh and kudos for wanting a manual!

The M2 will likely be around the R900 000 mark
Car prices keep going up every couple of months lately so if you are indeed sure of the fact you selling the 125 then get into the M235i and save some bob.
You could always mod it stage by stage and it'll end up being quicker than a stock M2 for less money

its actually crazy if its R900k (and if a m235i is like R700k then i can't see that it will be less than 9) if you think about it:skit:

It is a bit more than 60,000Euro in germany, ending up a bit higher than 900,000Rand in SA (15:1)

But an M4 is base at 75300euro which is 1129500 by 15:1 compared to a 1059500. About a 70 grand difference in price but M2 still puts it around 830 000 ... 900000 and above is way too close to an M4 plus in the uk the price equals around 840 000 converted over and the rumored price of 51 000 dollars converts to 680 000 so you can't really use direct comparison. i believe it may be around 750 000 since that is the in the middle between the m235i and m.

well the base of an m235i is 560 K , 700k is with a load of extras plus m performance parts.

I've been driving automatics for about 6 years now and I so bored of it. I have more fun in my girlfriends fiat just because its a manual even after having driven some amazing DSG's.

Its not really the power of the M2 that interests me, a m235i with a chip and downpipe should match it but it's the whole package. It's exactly like buying a 135i and modding it to say you have a 1M but it's just not the same.

If you have the cash to finance +-R750k, then I'd say wait for the M2, SAVE every damn month religiously from here on and get the M2, agreed with above whereby you just cannot compare it to the M235.

Was quoted by auto alpina boksburg for the m2. Price tag will be around R950K:skit: , there is only a limited amount of cars coming to SA.

So looks like with the 1m will hold value and resale above 1mill but too closely priced to the m3

I dont know how they got a price becuase every dealer Ive asked said bmw has not told them but most told me around 800 fully specced but who can u belive anyway hey... but the limited number I havexpect also been told. Got told there will be 167 over 3 years but to be honest I have read that there is rumoured to be a face lift as well plus it won't be limited, just low allocations per year unlike the 1M which was pretty much once off.

Oh and 950 is like 50 grand off an M3? Isn't that just too close for BMW ? Surely they can't do that ?

It was probably the price as stands. Easy to add 100k in extras these days with stuff that should come standard originally on a luxury car.

I think on most of these cars that get to SA, they won't be base models. Will be specd with good few extras and if you want the car thats the price you pay. 50 to 100k of m3 price depending on spec level.
Was told m2 shares some components with the new m3 e.g suspension bit etc so its way different to a 235i

If I do get the M2 I would like to spec it from new and place an order anyway which is perfectly possible according to the sales rep even on the M2.

Yeah the engine is sort of a n55 s55 hybrid. Got some components from the s55 to beef up the n55. Plus suspension so forth.

Unless you know for sure that you have enough for the M2 (pricing will be inflated in SA) I'd say go for the M235i else you are going to pay more for it later when you realize that you can't afford the M2.

OR

1M now and ball like a mofo.
