Tyres tyres tyres.

100% can all be tyres or also atmospheric conditions on the day as well as just the driver. On the 'ring it is very easy for driver to make a multi-second difference even with the same spec.

Lets also not forget many of the manufacturers 'stitch' a laptime together for marketing purposes. Many examples of this. Since everyone has a new best friend they can go and ask Chat/Claude/Grok for those 🫣

Oh no.

M2 CS is sold with Cup/Trackday tyres as stock and that is what it did it's lap on. The CSL's magical laptime back in the day was mostly thanks to it's sticky rubber. Some German mag did a best times test on a CSL with and without it's Cup tyres and the results were "dramatic".

Some credit where it's due...its an impressive time.

Would it be nice to see a G87 stock with better tires and then compare?

Its a great time... but for me it makes the base M2 look like much more of a bargain. You can do all that yourself to a base M2 and have plenty of money to cover you for your voided plan and loads of track fun if you wanted to... including fitting a 25K set of sticky tyres to achieve probably the same time. In days past there were many more hardware changes (there was even water injection and functional aero in the DTM/GTS M4). Now they just charge you as though you're getting engineering but its mostly marketing.

But is this a since and repeat formula since the F series Cs models.

Dtm and gts were very different, yes, but from F series, we had Cs and every other EDITION of m3 m4 with very little difference.

Small bumps in power, maybe a spoiler here and there, but never anything as crazy as the E46 CSL, and even then, the F series. It was around 500k more than a comp Irc. The M2 cs F87, lets not even go there as how stupidly priced that was VERY little difference (carbon roof, bonnet. Wheels, Adaptive suspension, some accessories)

However, pricing discussions asife, because i feel most new cars are just crazy priced, i still love the styling cues and what the CS has achieved.

Im in love with the look more then anything else

We all know, no matter what, BMW will adveetise their cars on track, but you allowed to track them.

Inline with your comment, The standard G87 2023/2024 M2 was not run with Trofeo R tyres when it broke the compact class record and when it did so it beat the F87 CS by a good 5 seconds... When Audi broke the compact class record and took it away from BMW they had a roll cage while running Trofeo R's, the M Groups I am on both local and internationally lit up very quickly like the end of a loadshedding session!!!

The new M2 has a bump in power 338kw on the 2023/24, and now 358kw.... Take that car slap on Trofeo R tyres, take it to the ring! You will get a good result!

As for the M2 CS with increased production, looks like demand has peaked which means we usually get our allocation in drips and drabs.

All the keyboard warriors will be eating there words, yes they ran with racetrack tires and yes you don't get that when you buy the car. I for one couldn't care less
