Well done! 125wkW is great for the altitude and age of the car! No branches or exhaust system?

Got the car back from the panel beaters but I'm not happy.

There is some orange peel in the lower half of the bumper which they will rectify.

Also still waiting on the right hand side fin (?).

Noticed that my PS res was almost completely empty.

Ordered new hoses, clamps and the o-ring for the cap.

And I see I will be doing the serpentine belt and possibly tensioner aswell.

Oh, and there was a guy asking about petrol consumption a while back.
This was mixed driving, dyno and spirited driving...

600k on the clock with more than a quarter tank left!

Well done on the progress of the car its come a long way man.
I miss this cars consumption its actually amazing how well it does on petrol with a big 3L 6 cylinder engine.

Any pics on the newly sprayed bumper? have they sorted the orange peel effect yet?

They resprayed the front bumper again but not 100% happy. Also had them do the bootlid ( remember those two nasty scratches?) but yeah they "polished" the car so its full of buffer trails.

Will update my thread maybe tonight as I did some maintenance etc on her.

Ps: you will be shocked again at that mech at Autoworx...

Oh noes :( This is exactly why I am hesitant to give my car to people to polish. ESPECIALLY a black car!

Oh Lawd. :thumbdo: well I will wait for the update to see what this clown did now. That doos has been the bane of my existence up till now.

So I finally had the front bumper resprayed, ( twice ) and replaced the missing brake duct and some more pieces that were broken.
I'm not 100% happy with the outcome but you have to look very closely to see the orange peel.

At the same time I had the boot lid resprayed as well as there were two deep scratches that someone tried to polish out and basically went primer deep.
Didn't take a picture before and after my bad.

Told the panelbeater not to buff/polish/rape my cars paint but yeah, totally ignored that request and as a result there is a lot of buffer trails. Idiots!

Managed to fix my PS leak.

Was leaking from the hose clamp.
Here is where a previous mech, @osiris might know the guy just frightened the clamp some more to stop the leak.

He also use some sort of tape to try and fix the leak lower down the hose where it goes to the radiator, do you know what a PITA it is to remove that high pressure coupling without that piece of plastic!

Why not just replace the whole hose?

Replaced the PS reservoir cap o-ring aswell

Filled( Castrol ATF Dex 3) bled and checked for further leaks.

Then I saw the belts

Luckily I always buy parts well before hand and replaced the old belts with Continental belts, both the AC and Serpentine belt.

On one of the service documents at said mech, it states that a belt was replaced.
Bullsh1t.

This is why I have trust issue.

After that it was on to simpler things.

Replaced the missing pollen filter housing screw with brand new ones and changed out the pollen filter itself.

And now finally have somewhere to put my drinks! Yay!

I know they are the correct colour, I wanted black as some of the interior parts will be changed to black aswell including the gearshiftboot, handbrake boot, trim and seats.

A bit of her gorgeous ass..

You know what really annoys the shit out of me, when that mechanic fitted the new radiator and forgot to bolt it into place and it rocked backwards causing the belt from the alternator to wear a hole into the expansion tank it took the doos an entire week to sort it out as I refused to pay for a new expansion tank that he ruined due to his incompetence. He just says he is so sorry and I must bring the car to him and he will sort it out and then takes a week to replace an expansion tank???? Takes me 30 mins to change that out.

I have been using that mechanic for over ten years and never had any issues up till I sent this 330i to him for the radiator replacement and then he got hold of my Z4.

I am sorry your dealing with his aftermath dude! Seems he has become a problem for both of us and an ongoing problem. And you have seen the way he charges too. Charges you for filters and all that crap yet when you check it afterwards you find hidden gremlins where things have not been replaced. and dumb shit like R189 for an engine wash and fuel line cleaner and nonsense like that.

On the positive, both our cars are starting to take shape and turning into some seriously clean cars inside and out!

I seriously think you should try source out a set of rear lights with the clear indicators and replace the front and side indicators with clears. It will seriously look good. That was my plan if I ended up keeping the car.
Congrats on the cup holder, I always wanted to do that as I got one of those from Gizmo a couple years back for my old 330d and it was such a good upgrade visually and for practicality.

Yeah I'm am actually looking for semi clear rear lights, but OEM ones, not those Autostyle units, and seriously considering getting a M3 steering wheel. Had one in my ci vert.
Maybe someone wants to swap?.

I'm loving this car more and more each day, that straight six sounds soo damn good!
Can't wait for my headers and full exhaust ( that was a hint so by the way, need to get a crowd funding project going)

haha I would never put any autostyle shit lights on any car that I own! I am definitely referring to OEM.
German age spares in Brakpan might actually have a set for you?

I managed to source a M3 steering wheel for my old 330d as well, it was awesome, I had the msport one to begin with but when I sent it in to be recovered they completely ruined it, the guy took it upon himself to remove the rubber cushioning so I ended up having to buy a new steering wheel. The M3 steering wheel is MUCH lighter than the normal msport steering wheel. funny thing is the only visual difference is the stitching.

Yup I miss the sound of that car! Best sounding car I have ever owned!:praise:
I did look into headers and stuff like that but decided against it in fear of acquiring that terrible rasp that people get when they remove the cats etc so I decided to just leave everything 100% stock on that car! I removed cats on my E36 328i and I got a horrible rasp. Since then I have always left exhausts stock! I did mess with the exhaust on my 330d and I am pretty certain it led to the turbo failure, This is why I am even trying to source the original exhaust for my z4 :eek:mgwaiting: I also don't like messing with back pressures on NA cars, It always ends up loosing low end grunt, yes you get a bit more top end but it makes the car feel flat low down.

What I think works well from what Gizmo told me is a E36 328i header on the 330i, That way your still getting a proper BMW built exhaust which should still retain the correct back pressure.

Yeah the M3 steering has a nice thickness about it that I like.

Will try and source clear lenses

I got a set of 328i headers for my 330i, and ended up giving them away.
Its the ugliest, worst looking cast for an exhaust I have seen in years.
Dont even bother.

What I might do in future is to simply cut off the cats in the manifold, and fit resonators where the cats used to be. That should keep the nasty rasp in check, and should flow better if the cats are blocked.

BTW - I have removed cats from 2 petrol BMWs with close to 200k on the clock, and the cats were not blocked. Made no difference in power whatsoever. It only sounded like crap afterwards.
