Last time I checked (august last year) RGM charges something like R13k for stage 1 and if you also want the performance manifold branch it is something like R5.6k extra.

Wow, at those prices I would consider supercharging my car, at least then you would see real gains in power especially when you look at it from a price to performance ratio.

rgm quoted me 100k to supercharge my car

What?? :dropjaw: The kits go for like R30k, obviously you would then need to import, labour and tune but I don't see that costing R70k.

Did they give you any specifics on what R100k would get you?

it was a vortex charger (15k imported) exhaust (6k) and tune (the only slightly tricky bit) so they putting a huge mark up...

Think they quoted me R120k to supercharge my E36...can't quite remember how much power they said i would get, think it was around +/-320kw...will try and find the quote

but what gets me is once you have done the job once its only a day job to get all the bits on... and you got to be mental to go with them when you can imports an ess charger for around 60k that is a strait bolt on... even if you pay someone to fit it (its really easy to fit) and pay them 10k (madness) then its just a matter of reading the car and sending the data to ess so they can tune it for our conditions... this will yeald a much better car in the end and work out quite a bit cheaper...

lolol.
mine just had viper branch, tnt duel system and it was little bit faster then standard 330's. filter also still OEM for good reason. Two performance tuners I spoke to say you have to play with the head to make more power with these motors. for 6or 13K - not worth it.

Why is it so hard to get power out of these engines (without forced induction)? I can see why a turbo or SC car would have more potential with the same mods but the price to gain ratio for a chip and decat is just not worth it.

Now SC gains are something to look at but if you are getting ridiculous quotes then you might as well just sell the car and but something better.

bmw make proper cars so its hard to make them better... but besides that there is no cheap way to make power now days on most cars they just too well developed... the only cars you can get 'cheap' performance from are boosted ones because in most cases you can just turn the boost up a little which will give you quite a good gain :)

NA tuning is not cheap at all most people say it will cost R1000 for 1Kw which in general is how much it costs... if you look at that boosting is cheap in comparison :)

so you got two options buy a new car or boost it...

if you really want a good base to mod get a 135i or 335i but they not yet cheap enough to be an option for most people yet...

Yea that's where my mind was going. Supercharge my current car or buy a 335i in 2-3 years. Option 2 is the "safe" option whereas option 2 is the crazy but fun option :) All depends on what costs are involved.

Major thread revival! But thought it would be better than starting a new one.
I'm currently interested in doing this type of stage one upgrade to my 2000 E46 330i.
Can someone give me the best "bang for buck" order of doing things? Something to keep in mind, she is currently my daily but the plan is to build her into a track car next year so I'm trying to make the mods build up to that so that I firstly don't do unnecessary things and secondly don't do things twice.
Also where can I get some quotes in Pretoria and what price should I be expecting these days?

Thanks, I'll wait for the diff until I'm more track dedicated as I still use the car on the highway often.
Regarding the decat, can I go to a place like noise boys?

Depends where you are, but there are a couple good PowerFlow branches here in CPT that will do a solid job.

Speak to FR&R. Speak to Blues. They do alot of work with Noise Boys. Tell him Yuben, black 330i referred u :cartel:

Ps, if u gonna do the diff, go 6spd box first. GIZMO is the guy foe this as he has done a few before including Andre320D whom he sold his 330i to:coolShake:
