Dealership praise/horror stories

I've been to numerous bmw dealerships and all of them have an emphasis of professionalism and customer focus that sets them apart from the rest (how crap the attitudes of the people that work there might be).

the reason why I say this now, is because I am sitting at a certain Mercedes Benz dealership in CT waiting for our company Vito to be fixed. this place does not have the level of emphasis on creating an impression as BMW does. well done BMW! :)

Took my 2000 E46 320D to JSN Motors in Bryanston for a little cut off problem at high revs. They 1st diagnosed and said faulty air flow meter and injector, booked car in. When car went in for fixing, the :censored: went and did another diagnoses, this time, only the injector was faulty:dropjaw:(some diagnosis there guys!).They apparently fixed it and promised everything will be ok. Then a day later, car still with them, they tell me it is smoking and that the turbo is gone,a new issue! That being under warranty, they fixed it, then they said a day later again that the catalytic convertors are stuffed and that's R15000.I declined, they suggested going to an exhaust place. they also said that the car would have less power and smoke. Collected the car, it now has a smoking issue, smoke out of the bonnet, looks like steam train, it does not rev up, and vibrates horribly when you accelerate. They said once i get the exhaust sorted, car will be 100%. I got the cats removed at Powerpipes. Car is exactly the same, messed up! Towed it back. They tell me that the non existent cats are blocked, hahaha!.6 weeks later after escalating and what not, they tell me all injectors are now broken, this being that my car has been with them all this time! 2 months now and no car:censored:. Dave Botha the regional manager said that there is no way JSN is responsible:cursin:. He must be smoking crack! I love BMW cars, but this experience has soured me big time. They never return calls, they dont reply to emails and their workmanship is pretty dodgy. Don't go there!!!

@plonkster Mette's auto electrical is great! They did a full electrical conversion on my old mans wrangler (220 power outlets etc) and he rates them big time!!

Just had another wonderful experience with our friends over at Forsdicks Tygervalley.

I only received one key when I bought the POFS. Now I would like to have a second one. Thing is, I do not use the actual key to lock/ unlock my car anymore. The car has a seperate Sanji system fitted. (I bought the car like this.)

This means I do not need a full master key, and can get away with a service key, using the Sanji for the rest.

Thing is, my old key, needs to be decoded. Then I get the new key, and recode everything. This the agents can do. SO I went there today, the machine was in use. Fair enough, and I ask him if I can come around at 8am tomorrow morning. He said I have to be there at 7:30 before the mechanics start using the machine. I told him I can't, cause I am only dropping Daniel off at school around 7:30. Can I make a booking for 8am, I ask? His answer... No, 07:30 or nothing.

So.... it's nothing then, and I walked away. Pucking Fricks!

SMG will sort it out tomorrow.

reading the horror stories in this thread, is it any wonder that only me, myself and i ever touch my cars? services, repairs, overhauls, ill do it myself thank you :)

only in that 2% of circumstances where i cannot fix it myself will a dealership see my car, and you can be damn sure i will be breathing down that mechie's neck..

my sympathies to those at the mercy of these sharks.. :bawling:

Jandre, there is people in CT who can do it cheaper. Drivesure.co.za. I think. Just google it.

Big up to SMG Cape Town, for a very professional approach to business. I went through to them this morning, my new key was ordered, the original key was decoded, and a few other cancelled. The new key will be available on Tuesday.

All in less than an hour.

mmmm, took my car (318ti) in to SMG Century City - had a service done. When I collected my car the fuel tank sat on empty from half. Accordingly to them when I asked them about it, was they reset the car after the service, had a problem on my fuel cluster and because my car was soooooo old (cry cry) I could take it to a guy in Plattekloof somewhere to get repaired. The SA warned me that I would not be able to afford the Dealership Prices... It really hurt my feelings, because I have a credit card that never let me down on swiping...! I have always been to Dealerships with my car and have to say Auto Atlantic in Cape TOwn foreshore is way the best with service and smiles! Always makes you feel welcome - well, I am blonde, but that free cuppachino is the bom...!
Bruce's BMW helped me the other day as well with a few things - I was utterly surprized with the great service I received from Bruce himself, as well as Rolf who welcomed me. Thinking of taking my car there for its next service...! :mmm:

yup FR, took it in to another shop, no problem at all - makes you wonder hey? :dropjaw: I haven't (touch wood) had any problems with my car yet. Drives beautifully and lank chuffed with it in overall. A bit low over speedbumps, but I was told that my car is lower than the regular coupe models. Sweating over speedbumps when you hear the clunk coming from underneath... All and all my car's a beaut. Thinking of letting go next year for the 06 325i...in white...
PS: where can I ask techical questions - I am a newby over here and love the forms!

I just wanted to thank the guys at Zeemax for their outstanding service (as usual). My car had a oil leak, so it went in for some TLC on Wed morning and I got her back today good as new. Shining and everything. She went for a dyno run and got a decent 165kw and 286nm with a very smooth power delivery curve. Very happy for a 7 year old 330i.

Auto Helderberg

E39, my favourite horror stealer, took my engine out 4 times trying to find an oil leak, I "suspect" they then cracked the engine block by refitting the gearbox wrong eventually stuck Pratley household putty on the oil leak instead of JB weld, till I had the engine fixed elswhere. They then charged me 23K labour and lost half the parts on the car and broke the rest, two years ago, and I'm still finding shit they botched during that debacle.... sheesh.

They then tried to sell me a 12K exhaust to fix a noise that was actually a faulty torque converter, nogal during the test drive to "diagnose" this pearl of wisdom, the dude went through a red traffic signal and got me a R500 fine ....

On the other hand Forsdicks, and in particular Eugene there has helped me out so many times I cannot thank them enough..

Auto Helderberg changed their name...but not their game. Had my fair run-ins with them. I still have some IOU's from the previous manager... :)

I also have IOU's from them, they owe me an 02 sensor that was brand new they broke, a spacer for my E39 bonnet they lost and various clips they broke as well.

It's not fair, they break I pay, they break more, I pay, they guess and change a wrong part, and I pay.

They said to me "book the car in and we'll replace the stuff" I said Se GAT! you will never ever lay your hands on my car again, give me the parts and I'll fit them right here in front of you. Needless to say I'm still waiting.

Hellas, what you say we go visit them to collect?

GRRRRRRRRRRRR I musn't think about it, it's such a sore point

Neither the salesman or that manager is still there, so it would do no good for me to do a vloermoer now. I did get some great discounts from the parts guys there in later years.

Well,

Took the 7 in to Club Motors Randburg for her 100,000 oil change, and gave them a shopping list.

Oil Change
Sunroof has a slight noise when the interior cover is open and moonroof closed
Steering locks hard if I turn the car full lock to the right
Noisy drive line
Auto Park function not working.

They said they wanted 2 days, phoned her the afternoon and most is done, we shall see tomorrow when I pick her up, God I love motorplan :)
