I think it's safe to say every single M3 and most e46's in JHB will have cracks. Especially those that launch hard. Leonard has another e46 M3 at his shop that also has subframe cracks.
I have spoken with Redish Motorsport, a UK company that design reinforcement plates for the e46 subframe issue, and after seeing the damage some cars they have worked on have endured, I feel we got lucky with Jezebel. I mean, there are some e46 M3's with their entire boot floor being held on by a few cm's of metal and a handful of spot welds. Cracks extending past 30 - 40 cm across the underside. We have a panel that has let loose and is roughly 4cm in length.
Matt the previous owner installed Subframe reinforcement kit. This kit has done its job. There are no cracks where the subframe mounts. What Jezebel has is a boot floor that has 2-3 spot welds that have come loose near the wheel arches at the rear left. This has caused the floor panel to drop a little.
Reddish has informed me that this is a simple job to fix and requires the floor being lifted back in place. Extra welds being placed and plates then being welded over them.
But, in regards to cracks around coil spring pads, this is too far gone and will require a new boot floor.
I strongly suggest you get under your car and check rear left wheel well, spring hub and subframe mounting. Also, inside the car, lift your boot floor covers, push your rear seats forward and lift all material out of the way so you can expose the floor. Look for where the floor is spot welded to the chassis on the sides.
Watch this to get an idea of how bad these things can get. This is an M3 that has complete floor failure.
