LOL.

I'm so glad this rain has kinda buggered off. Drove her today for the first time in a week. She feels good. Just need to get that control arm fixed.

So my dad came into my room just now asking if there isn't a new update or video clip to watch? I had to tell him no new updates as yet.

My dad and me have been following this thread like a tv series.

I am almost positive that this car has had the "evil eye" cast upon it.

Chris was with me yesterday as the car has lost low down torque and the motor is sounding peculiar.

(Fordkoppie I now know what you mean)

Checked the vanos valve body as well as the cam timing.

We are suspecting an issue from the vanos solenoids as the engine has an entirely different tone to that which it previously had as well as torque output which fluctuates.
Car was on the dyno and we got 2 different torque reports in the same day although the Kw reported the same on both occasions.
Equally the torque graph indicates a vanos issue as we have severe dips at 2k 3k and 4k
We also have a ticking valve which means we will need to check valve clearances again.

We are waiting for a car to come in and will test his valve block in Crash's car if he will allow us. Still need to speak to the fanatic about it.

All in all Jezebel is keeping us interested in life at present.

We will be sure to keep the thread updated as we progress.

Since owning the car, I have always had Exhaust temp sensor error and two 02 sensor errors after Cat. This being due to the car being decatted.

The only new code we threw was a code 094 - Vanos inlet adaptation. Burgy from Project shift helped read the codes. We then cleared the codes/errors and reset adaptation. Drove over 300km since and that code has not returned.

Intake and exhaust cams are in alignment. Checked seals on vanos and exhaust tabs yesterday. All is well. As Peter said, it points towards Vanos Solenoid. The weird thing is, usually a Salenoid will throw either of these error codes as well as a SES light.

P0010 (BMW xx, 0xxx): Vanos intake solenoid circuit
P0011 (BMW 67, 0x43): Vanos intake timing over advanced
P0012 (BMW 72, 0x48): Vanos intake timing over retarded
Pxxxx (BMW 184, 0xB8): Vanos intake position control
P1525 (BMW xx, 0xxx): Vanos intake solenoid open circuit

P0013 (BMW xx, 0xxx): Vanos exhaust solenoid circuit
P0014 (BMW 22, 0x16): Vanos exhaust timing over advanced
P0015 (BMW 21, 015): Vanos exhaust timing over retarded
Pxxxx (BMW 185, 0xB9): Vanos exhaust position control
P1531 (BMW xx, 0xxx): Vanos exhaust solenoid open circuit

We received none of these codes.

So we are stumped. The only codes we are getting are the same Exhaust Temp sensor and 02 sensors post cat.

The car literally drops almost 40nm of torque. Massive drop.

Yes, you can use mine - when should I bring it through?

Pop some foolers in there first, I have 2 here if you want to try it out.

S54 is a funny motor when it comes to cat delete, some respond immediately with a EML and some don't, some throw codes without EML and others don't throw codes or EML's...I know the S54 DME is finicky, but damn!!!

That e46 M3Ti that I have done work on also throws errors due to cat delete, after speaking praise I sent the owner to Sherwin @ Exede who wasn't very interested in helping him out or returning calls either, egg on my face...
Anyway, we are yet to find someone to do the software to delete the post cat sensors completely, perhaps I should give Tunetech a shout...

I agree with the damn name. I'm getting a priest and we are going to exorcise that damn car, then bless it, then baptise it and rename it to something else.

That being said, no CAT FOOLERS, software was done to stop the error codes. Just spoke to Matt now to confirm. He had Active Autowerke write him a software to eliminate the codes. Thus, I probably do have dead 02 sensor's, but I am willing to come try the Cat Foolers and see if they eliminate the 02 sensor errors, but that being said, I know this will not fix the issue we are currently having, as I have had these 02 sensor errors since day 1.

My dyno comparison's from this last week and last year, the car is down on power. She drops +- 30 to 40nm in torque as compared to before where she did not. Compared to a run I had last year, The torque figure starts to climb, then suddenly just drops down, then starts climbing again. Granted the engine is still new and we will still have some blow by as the engine is still sealing up, but this drop in torque is not from the engine build, this is something else.

Don't get me wrong, she still pulls great on top end, but at the bottom, she is empty, pap, dood, vreg... kaput... she just drops dead for a second or two and suddenly livens up and starts to pull. The idle is even and is not searching, the car does not jerk when power is applied, it's somewhat smooth, but slow to get going... We have reset adaptations, I have driven her in sport mode to get faster response on the acceleration, yet still no good.

So I don't know...

I suspect the solenoid solder joints have come loose... Peter will do some testing to confirm...

physically everything looks good on the engine so it has to be something electronic causing this...

having driven Jezebel 2 weeks back myself :fencelook: I am rather surprised at this sudden turn... It had plenty pull then and kicked hard from low down

solenoid issue is very common on this car so its probably just that...

I would also look at resolving the post cat O2 issue because if not resolved correctly it will cause the car to run rich to try warm up the cats that are not in place... this will cause sluggish boggy performance issues but I doubt this is your current issue

I think we need a garland of garlic wrapped around the rear view mirror....that is sure to keep the "evil eye" off the car. :)
