why not try make as many M5s as possible for Sunday?

Hopefully I will have mine back. Dissapionting progress so far. but hopeful.

Hi I had a look on Sunday, the colour matched beautifully, and Mike said they didnt buff the whole car?
They normally do that to make it bend in more.

The whole car received a valet before delivery, but what I meant was I want to personally repolish and wax the sprayed parts as I can get the finish even better.

We are going back today or tomorrow to fit new fogs so will do it then.

I have spray updates, just my laptop is locked in the boot of the M3 in paarl.... Lol

I must have misunderstood, but in short the colour matched beautifully, as you said it would.:praise:

Quick Update | Final Pics | Spraywork Complete

Picking up from where we left off, the paint has been stripped and now the guys start the fun job of patching every stone chip... Lets just say there were many!

At this point we had to go through to collect an M3 for another customer and didnt get any further pictures, however upon our return we found Steve's M5 getting the final touches of its valet.

But first this bugger decided to hide in my door handle the whole way from Nicks Farm so it could scare the hell out of me!

A few shots of the finished work on the car in the underground car park at Willowbridge Shopping Centre!

Nice job Mike and co :)
Steve you must be so happy to be rid of all those nasty chips!

To be honest... I did not look at the bonnet area a lot before it went for a respray:yuck:

First time Eva that cosmetics have been first on the list for a new car. but I am very happy now. While it isn`t perfect due to some deep seated issues that could not be addresses by a respray, I am very happy.

Mike, it has been a pleasure dealing with you.

Just to update this thread quickly, here are a few pictures of the new foglights!

The quality is absolutely superb, glass lenses and extremely sturdy, feels identical if not better to OEM.

Co-incidentally the E39 M5 actually uses the same fog lights as the E46 Sportspacks do - You learn something new every day!

These will be fitted this upcoming Monday as well as a quick polish and wax to get the finish as close to perfect as possible.

So I took the M5 for a run:praise:

Iesh. On paper it should only be a smidgen quicker than the MCoupe... I don't think so... or there is something wrong with the MCoupe. What a beast!!! That V8...

Diff and propshaft seem fine. I have a vibration at +130km/h. I have feeling it may be the tyres getting a flat spot for standing so long. It has been less noticeable after several days of driving.

Fogs have blown a bulb already... Minimike. Do you have the fogs that you removed?

Bought the oil filter housing mounts and fitted them today... got reamed by BMW R275 X2 for two poxy rubber mounts. But its down now and quieter as a result.

The fogs should be there in the garage or in the car. But I think they are there infront of the M:thumbs: probably the cheap stuff that comes with the fogs

So not good news:( fog light is not working and its not the globe. And 5 series has a computer controlling the lights!! So not just a fuse:(

Anyone have an idea about what could cause a single fog light to not work?

Seats fixed. twisting back and seat lift repaired by cutting a cm portion out of the tube and duct taping it back in place. Major pita getting a ton of seat out the door of the M5!!!, doubt my back will ever be the same again.

And fogs magically started working again... loose connection maybe. I just had them out and put them back...

Tomorrow I tackle the rear window and try and re attach the mirror!!

So what personailsed plate?

Currently my favorite is AV0 3V0M - WP

Or is that to obscure? But you are hogging the BMW lane and you see a red M5 in your rear view mirror with that number plate!!

I missed that write up!!

I short-cutted the whole having to remove the motor and pull out the end of the cable. By locating the housing of the cable that is too short you just pick a nice "easy to get to" portion of the housing, cut it, pull out the cable trim the housing by 5-10mm slip the cable back into the housing, seat it and if you trimmed to the correct length the two housings should now meet. I then duct taped them back together. I did the cut where it would be accessible when the seats were back in, in case I did not trim enough, then I wouldn't have to take the seat out again. This took 5 minutes a cable once I had figured out how to do it. I could possibly have done this without removing the seat, now I think about it. Next time I am sure I could, knowing where everything is now.
