Wheels balanced and vibration is gone... some bumps in the wheels. Each one had abit of a bobble. But you cannot feel it now. wheel alignment was way off... 2 weeks after it was done by SMG... worst was the rear camber, most effected by the rear diff work that they did. Go figure.
And I found out BMW want R770 each for the broken brakets in the sunroof:thumbdo: Versus US$28 each in the US. :argh:
I will be attempting a repair job.

So M5 is now registered in my name and roadworthy. So before anyone says they know a place that can roadworthy a car in any state for 50 bucks... I insist on proper roadworthy. So replaced the front windscreen, rear breaks and adjusted the handbrake. (thanks to Garage 808 for that).
Other than that, just been enjoying the beast. Trying to get the exhaust flame video off my BIL.
P.S. My wife in in love with it. As a a designated driver... she is way to keen to drive home. and go and get smokes. And making comments about guys checking her out in it...

Just a quick note to keep the thread alive.
Temp sensor and new panel under the front bumper installed. The mechanic said he had a good look at the front of the car and it has definitely had a front end smash (I knew that already) but he cannot see any structural stuff, so he recons it was a square on cosmetic event. Like a light rear ending.
I had the sunroof out and my first fix attempt without paying for new parts was a disaster and broke before I even had the sunroof back on. The force acting on the parts in question is fantastic... no-wonder they break. So looks like its new parts from BMW

So after a long time in "storage" things are moving again.
Today I fixed the drivers seat twist. I have now done this on the drivers and passengers seat. I have come to the conclusion that there are only two movements that have the problem. The seat back adjustment and the seat rear tilt. I had a good look today and there are the only two functions with a long plastic housing in which the cables turns. They should have used a reinforced cable housing. Fix is quite quick, I cut through the housing. Pull out the cable/ flexible shaft and cut out a 1cm section on the housing and rejoin using duct tape. This allows the flexible shaft to reunite with the female on the motor. Obviously either the housings stretch or the shaft wears out the inside of the housing increasing its internal diameter. The correct way would involve reducing the end of the housing that means you have to dismantle the seat to get at and shorten and then recrimp into the housing termination.
I did this fix on the passenger side back about 2 years ago and I checked the condition and it is holding perfectly.
On the list of things to fix was the left side mirror. It got knocked off in its murky past and was held on by wire, and had a flat mirror (obviously the glass broke) and at R5000 for a new mirror they just cut out a piece of glass. The mirror adjuster was also "weak" and in the wind moved around.
I got a left side mirror of a recently deceased M5 (RIP). It had been knocked off so I still don't have a fully functioning mirror but it had a good mirror and mechanism. Recently a body shop fabricated a proper baseplate to replace the wire. So I set to work making a franken-mirror from whatever was working in the two mirrors. So it turns out the mechanism had changed during the facelift so I had to splice the new mechanism into the harness and the new mirror had the wired badly pulled out the tilt motor. But after some head scratching multi-meter work and soldering I had it all working. Even the tilt works... sort off. after multiple tilts the wires start getting in the way so the base plate needs some modification at another time. So diabled the tilt for now.
I have a lovely functioning offside mirror now. :ty:
And I redid the window washer piping. The panel shop had not done a very good job and it had all come loose. So the engine got a wash when you wanted to squirt the windows.
Waiting for tyre quotes at the moment. Falken don't do the narrow and wide combination in one make So going with Conti Sport Contact 3s... I think.

I have had to do this as well. Those pipes become so brittle it's not even funny. And the y-piece isn't exactly in the most accommodating of spots...

Same here. Falken ZE912 at the front and FK453 at the back.
