As I promised in my "Re-Introduction" thread. Here goes the track bike build of my brand spanking new 2022 S1000RR. Bike had it's run in service done today and all the restrictions have been lifted. The bike has been washed to ensure all the fairings are nice and clean before bubble wrapping and storing.

The parts I currently have in various states of "In transit", "received" and "to be shipped" are as follows.

  • Ignition delete
  • Race handlebar controls
  • Race Rearsets
  • Top yoke (triple clamp)
  • Race throttle unit
  • Race subframe
  • Race fairing stay bracket
  • Race fairings
  • Engine case savers
  • Chain adjsuters
  • Clip on handlebars
  • Dashboard protector
  • Radiator & oil cooler guard
  • Radiator & oil hoses
  • Race air filter
  • Titanium race exhaust
  • ECU Flash
That's the list...for now. I will explore the limits of the factory suspension before buying cartridges and a shock.

Attached some pics of the bike before it undergoes the transformation.

Ok, here we go. I've been planning to start stripping today on this extra public holiday we've been blessed with this year.
I woke up this morning full of vigor and ready to start working on my project. Just as I was about to head down and get dirty I realised one very big step is missing before I can start working. I need to do a "before" dyno run, especially considering I'm changing exhaust, air filter and flashing the ECU. So I suited up, pushed the bike out and headed to the shop.
I did a couple of runs and the best was 205.6 HP call it 206;) and 123 Nm, Dyno chart and a few pics attached.
Not bad for a completely stock bike on a boiling hot day.

So after the dyno runs it was back home for the stripping to start.
But first I couldn't resist taking another few last pics of the bike in road trim.

After the pics it was time. I started the with the screen, mirrors, top fairing and the top fairing stay bracket. Everything was very easy to remove and I kept all of the OEM fairing bolts separate. For the track fairings I will use allen head screws just to make life a little easier at the track if I ever need to strip fairings off for scrutineering or some such I won't need torx bits.
Disconnected the headlights, front indicators (In the mirrors), horn/hooter and used a label maker to print labels for all the loose wires. The plugs are all different so you can't really plug anything in the wrong place, but having them labelled just looks neater and takes all the guessing away come time to re-fit the street body work.
In no time the front end of the bike was no longer distinguishable as a S1000RR. Next came the side fairings and the fuel tank. I'm trying to source a 2nd hand or damaged fuel tank to repair and use for the track to keep the original in mint condition, however that is proving to be as tough as finding hen's teeth. I'm sure one will come up soon though.
Last up was the tailpiece and number plate holder. Everything went smooth and was fairly easy to strip.

I was running out of space to put all of the parts so before the stripping could continue I bubble wrapped everything I have removed thus far and put it all in a nice big box.

This was as far as I got today. Next up will hopefully be the exhaust once my replacement arrives. I've got my race fairings already but I don't want to fit them just to remove them again once the balance of my parts arrive, so I'm holding off on the fairing fitment until all of my parts are here.
The last parts should arrive late Nov to early Dec. In the mean time I'll keep updating the thread as parts arrive which can be fitted.

I've also taken stock of all the bolts and nuts I need to replace all of the OEM ones so I will get those in this week.

And nothing wrong with your engrish my fingers would also be shaking on the keyboard if I was making a track build out of a brand new vehicle... 🤣 keep it up dude.

Spell check... armed and ready ;):ROFLMAO:

Small update: I fitted the rearsets today, and moved the shift linkage for GP style shift. Everything bolted right up no issues whatsoever. These are pretty much the only parts that are not waiting for something else to go on first.

Parts I have received so far:
  • Ignition delete
  • Top yoke/triple clamp
  • Handle bar switches left and right
  • Throttle unit
  • Radiator & Oil cooler guard
  • Race Fairings
All of these require other items to go on first before being fitted.
