Hey guys

As I spoke to Gizmo a while back the 16 valve one will work on the car all that possibly needs to change is the ecu. (Not sure if I remember right)

M3 maybe just send me and Crash a pm with the prices. Also just let me know and I`ll pm you the list of all other parts we are looking for.

You need a bunch of other stuff to convert yours to 16v but yes it will bolt onto your block, cheaper to buy a complete 16v motor though.

There is an M43 8v 318i being stripped in PMB. I may pop in there, will pass along the details if it turns out to be legit.
@ Madness, do you need the sump to rebuild Witch, if not, can I get help with my E30 8v rebuild with the front section of the sump?

I speak unde correction, but the 8v engines are all the same with only small differences, E30 318i 8v through to E46 318i 8v?

Thanks bud,

Do you know if I can get help with the front part of the sump, I'm also a fanatic in the sense thar I don't quit on a BMW just because of a bit of misfortune - the sump got smashed in the accident, but also because I love this car it will break my heart if I have to strip it for spares.

So with us getting so close to the funds last week I did some work on the car.

Firstly it got towed to where I can work on it a bit more.
Gave it a lekker wash and dry and then covered it under a car cover.
I removed the slam tray as to eas the reinstall of the new motor.
Also got the cables for the lights and so out the way.

We will be collecting the motor tomorrow, wil be cleaning and servicing it over the weekend, as well as fix the rust as to install the motor.

Will post some pics of everything tomorrow.

Some suspect stuff that we found on a quick inspection when the motor was up on the stand.

First up is an oil leak between the timing chain covers/ head and block.

So I ran into a bit of a complication with the motor. Besides some broken parts found, (luckily I still have most of my parts) the severity of the oxidation on the motor did it's toll on the exhaust manifold and when removing it 2 of the bolts snapped. One just past the manifold and the other right in the head.

Will continue the cleaning of all parts and taking photos.

Will update a little later with some pictures.

Hi Bruce,

I got a tip from Google how to get snapped off bolts out which worked for me, I welded a nut onto the snapped off bolt after spraying it with A LOT of Q20, welded the nut on, sprayed it with Q20 again and unbolted the snapped off stud.

So just a small update.

Removed the rest of the oxidation today and also most of the broken and sceptical parts so to replace with the parts I have to replace.

Wil start clearing the rust in the engine bay.

@Moranor, the engine mountings looks okay? Not sure about gearbox ones, will take some close up photos then you can tell me what you think.

Will continue work tomorrow and take some more photos.

All and all I expect about 2 to 3 more days of work before we can fit the motor back and then about a day or 2 then she can start again.

Will update again tomorrow.
