So my break light came up yesterday. Do you guys recommend changing all four pads at once? what about the roters? Should i change it if they still good.

Also how many sensors will i need?

Total price? I'm going with ATE.

depends how bad your disc's r and on your driving style, if they are cracked or bad rifts or warped then obviously they need replacing

i was told my discs need replacing about 40 000ks ago just replaced my pads and car still stops fine but planning on replacing discs all round in November

and yep auto zone is ur best bet got my pads there too, and sensors from the dealer they go for bout R150 a pop

Deano,

You will have 2 sensors, one front left, one rear right if memory serves.

As for the discs, if they have any groove or dig/gouge marks, you have to replace them.

They also have a minimum thickness safetly line on them (the discs) that wears down as you use them, if it is on the limit or past the limit, you should replace them.

WHat I would recommend is to take them past any machine shop (Dave from CBF in randburg will do this for you for a couple of bucks) and just lightly skim them if they are otherwise fine, they will also tell you if you need to replace them.

I would also recommend changing your brake fluid, as this is a regular maintanance item as well, and is just as important as your pads, although you may battle without a pressure bleeder.

Why not give dave from cbf a call and ask him for a quote, you will be surprised, he is in randburg

There is also Norbrake out germiston/boksburg side.

I did enquire with ATE at one point about buying from them, there is a way that you can, but its lengthy. So try contacting them the have website.

Also try Hursthill Motor Spares, they not badly priced. But if you in Randburg Midas/Autozone.

Not a big fan of Scheeeeming, as at R250 for 2 ATE disks I reacon it works out cheeeeper for new.

To do the job yourself you need 1 hour perhaps 2 at max. :)

As a side note. The first time in my life i did pads was on the gopher and I was scared as hell. Took me 6 hours the first time. second time I did it for the hell of it and painted the calipers aswell and took me 1.5 hours. :)

HI There
have you guys tried Imcomex ? I buy all my service parts from them. They sell Meyle parts and are top quality parts from Germany. I just got a quote for my brake pads and discs.
I own a 2005 320d motorsport e46 with 226000km, the prices are very good, my quotes were R344 front pads and R270 rear pads. Front discs R454 and rear R469 with the sensors R92 for front and R80 rear.

Bearing in mind the motorsport takes larger discs and pads. Ive also shopped around and you cant beat their quality.

Number 0126538466 , speak to Sam.

Things like air and fuel filters etc are also cheaper than Midas or Autozone.

cheers
