Hope the car will give many happy kilos after this .
Only problem why is engine on wear limit after only 180 000 km's ? Fort Beaufort is not big ( at least not when I visited my daughter there ) so from one end to the other the car does not get warm , but you do not have petrol washing oil off cylinder walls like the rest of us .

I am also very surprise the way the engine wear in that time. Well, that is what happen when you buy 2nd hand. At least I know it will be very new now. Will just like to know what and how is the best way to treat the engine on the run in period. I know some people does not believe in this. Think the main thing is not to use it on full power for the 1st 2000 or so km. Must go on a decent trip to get her lose.

Clutchy told me that he is very impressed with the work done by the engineering guy's. Must say that this is the 1st time that my car is away from me for such a long time. Main problem for me is that I am alone at work and cannot just slip away for a few hours.

one freshly cut and cleaned crankshaft ..

Beyond epicly clean ! .. these engineers never fail to amaze us ..

@moranor: nope, I believe the crank comes like this from factory for some reason .. I have seen two other 3.0D crankshafts and they both have these marks on them also .. havn't seen it on any other bmw cranks so not really sure why they are there ..

@Barkie: I can immagine ! .. your car is in REALLY good condition ! so its only fair that the motor should also be

its tempering probably to take the extra torque from the diesel... i was just worried the engineers might have cooked it because if not done right the crank will be soft...

everything looks very nice almost dont want to put it back together because then you cant see it
