I have a 2016 Ducati Diavel Carbon
Congrats on getting the M6 back on the road. Damn, you have a V8 BMW and an Italian bike! You like playing with fire when it comes to reliability hey😂😂. Just kidding. I stuck with the Inline 6 BMW and have 2 Jap bikes myself. They aren't as charismatic as the Italian bikes but I have peace of mind everytime use them lol.

hahaha, yea i come from a yamaha R6, lovely bike, nearly went the superbike route again, but i want to do some touring, and not just speed around. so i opted the cruiser route to take in the scenery. But make no mistake the Diavel has plenty of power.

As far as the V8 and the italian bike choices:

Honestly, no matter where you are in CPT, the pops and bangs crew WILL find out.
Its actually quiet around Somerset West. The oomies and tannies will get a fit if you do that around here.
I get my daily dose of side eye and frowns in our complex. I start my car up at 5am every morning to go to gym. I live in the corner and my car is parked under a metal roof.

No superbikes here also. I have a Kawa Versys 1000 for touring (Have done JHB to Durban a couple of times with it) and a Kawa 650 more biased for offroading. Guess the fact that I don't have a speed bike and a 6 series shows my age now lol.

Hi all.

So another small update.
The Foam insert was already fitted, and they've added 450km already to the car. Still zero faults, and the rattly noise at idle is gone thanks to the foam sound deadening. what a relief.
Im impressed at how fast they put mileage on the car when testing and running in.

They will continue to put a bit more mileage on, before dropping the oil and doing the run in service, so i should hear from them on Monday/Tuesday. im getting pretty damn excited lol.

How are they putting on the mileage, are they actually driving the car around or do they have like a roller setup to run the car on?

Great news!

Can't wait for it to be back in your hands (and correctly built this time!). I actually like that they do the run in themselves so that there is also no finger pointing down the road that you 'did the run in incorrectly' (which I'm sure many of us have heard as an excuse for rebuild failures before). I guess it goes together with their warranty process/procedure.

This thread would have me seriously consider Budler Motorsport if I am ever in a situation where I need some major work done.

Sounds as if it won't be too much longer until you get to enjoy your M6 again!

I also like that they do the run in procedure, they normally only do the oil change at around 2000km, but due to my circumstances, they happy to have it done under the 1000km mark, which for me suits me better.

There are a lot of theories on how to run after a rebuild, or in this case, a half build. the consensus for most guys in the USA is after bearings, and new rings etc, do around 500miles, drop oil and then send it.
Some guys say the rings are fully seated within 50 (fifty) miles, and there is actually nothing more to seat, so can drive normally, and drive hard if you want to.

So far, i can certainly recommend just due to their service and updates. proof is in the pudding obviously so will see soon. but year, very happy with how they have conducted themselves

Stop fooling yourself - they're just making up a story to enjoy that glorious engine as long as possible haha ;)

Jokes aside, it's so good to see guys who take their jobs this seriously. It also brings into harsh perspective the limits of my own DIY'ing on my simple N52 engine.

There's a lot of fun to be had (and money to be saved) DIYing with cars and household stuff, but for certain jobs you need to have a pro doing it. The same goes even for detailing or minor repair work/touch ups. As much as we can become quite good at it, a pro will always have that much more knowledge, better tools, more experience etc.

Yep, cant stress this enough.
Dont get me wrong, i was recommended to do the rebuild myself, have the car sent to me, put it in my garage and just get it done by myself, i did consider it for a split second, but then i came to my senses, i dont have the special tools, the knowledge or experience, its all fair and well to attempt your first rebuild on a Citi Golf of Hyundai, but on this scale, i didnt want to be experimenting. not to mention the added cost of buying special tools, hoists, braces, etc etc, id happily pay the labour for a professional to take it over and do it correctly. (Except RM Auto, he is still learning, so i wont stress him out), ai shem...

Missed a final car run before you went to Cape!

So ive given the go ahead after the received quote for the Diff Service and Axle seal replacement, as it is confirmed that is leaking, albeit slowly, id rather just have the peace of mind that nothing is leaking at all.
They need about a day to do it, then final assembly of Under trays etc will happen tomorrow, as well as the oil change after run in, as the car has done about 650km now.
If all goes well, the car can be collected either Wednesday or Thursday by my selected car Carrier.

They will let me know tomorrow.

So waiting with baited breath now at this point.
