Road Trip - Top Gear festival 14-16 June GP to KZN

Hi Guys,

By popular demand I'm posting that we will be having a mini road trip to KZN over the weekend of the Top gear Festival.

The plan is to leave on the Friday morning 14th June and spend the weekend in Durbs, whether you go to Top Gear or not. Have a dyno run on the saturday and then pretty much just enjoying the cars at the coast while we are there.

Then heading back the monday morning to GP. 17th June (Public Holiday)

Convoy route: The PTA guys can meet up at the Caltex (Maxis Bridge) by new road offramp at 06:00 sharp (that means 05:45). Then depart together to the next meet where the JHB guys can gather so long.

I think there is an Engen 1stop garage just outside of Alberton heading toward Durbs. We can meet there at around 06:15-06:30 and depart soon after.

This is not a race to see who get's to Durbs first. This is a road trip we will partake in together enjoying the cars and being courteous to one another. (No swerving or ridiculous overtaking causing stone chips etc. You will be asked to leave the convoy) I'm saying this as there is a lot of ///M cars that want to experience coastal power, and the owners don't want to damage their precious paint work.

I am however going to GOOI MIELIES when I exit the toll gates as I love the sound that emanates from the cement surfaces. I will also enjoy taking the corners responsibly through van reenen's pass as this is where the ///M's excel right? All whilst not going off the road flicking up debris infront of my fellow Fanatic.

So let's enjoy the trip, enjoy the cars and not inflict stone chips upon each other.

Feel free to add your name to the list, if not you are still more than welcome to join, but If you're late we won't wait for stragglers.

PS. This original post will be updated with any changes. Times meeting points etc. So feel free to comment and add suggestions. The Engen I'm referring to still needs to be confirmed.
Thanks

I'm up for it - count me in

BTW, the 17th (Monday) is a public holiday, so it's a nice long weekend if we leave on the 14th and return on 17th. Can finalize the details over the next few days

Really wanna feel the M power at the coast :joy: :joy: :joy:

Ok so for you guys coming down, that wont be at top gear on the sunday, there will be the Margate drag allstars. It will be hosted at margate airport, racing starts at 9am. Please feel free to come and support some of you fellow fanatics, as they put their cars through the paces.

I believe George Smooth is looking at breaking the 200km/h 1/4mile.

Details of the event can be found at: www.kznmotorracing.co.za

Don't worry Tommy, I only have a 50L tank and barely make it on 2 tanks to Durbs. We can stop as many times as you like

You would probably pass them along the way, or get caught up between them as the lead car drives at speed limit. I would rather, you guys leave at 5:30 and be ahead of them. If last years was anything to go by, we where almost 80 cars in convoy. The last car was about 20-30km behind the first car.
