Went to have a look at the car today again, slow progress. These cars had/have a tendency of cracking around the shock towers, mine had a repair done to it but cracked again so decided to replace these panels.

Wow, you keeping this car running regardless of the value vs "running cost" proposition is pretty great. I could learn something from you, that is for damn sure.

Well done to you sir (y)

Went for a visit beginning of this week and this the current progress, rear quarter windows also need to be removed before carrying on.
They said will start with the rest the forthcoming week, i sure hope so, i do miss driving this car heavily.

Motor staying the same ( turbo setup all ready no changes needed mechanically ) , however, it will be removed by me when the car is complete. Asked the Painter no to remove engine, i would rather want to remove it at my place myself, then it will go back to do the engine bay.

When i saw the color today i almost got emotional, the stress of having the correct RED was just giving me a lot of sleepless nights, They got it totally right.

Awesome...some pics of the motor would be cool. What is the status of the exhaust - anything planned on that?

Running a single box, 63 pipe from downpipe to exit, on page 1 and 2 of this thread you will find pics of the build progress on the engine and management, basically some prior history on the car aswell. The block was reconditioned and bored to 20 thou oversize, sourced Arias forged pistons, brand new TS rods, arp rod bolts, fully balanced bottom end, some headwork but need to go smaller on ports, lost too much compression after the second stint on the head. Had to modify a lot of spares, manifolds, radiator fans , for all to work and fit properly.
I have done roughly 20 000 km on the car since the conversion, had small hickups along the way but all sorted for now, the only thing holding me back currently for a road trip down to Kzn is the manifold studs and bolts keeps coming loose no matter what i tried for it not too, strangely enough it only happens on a road trip of about +/- 200 km

Get yourself Nordlock washers and copper manifold locking nuts.

I suspect the manifold is pulling them loose. It may need extra bracing to prevent it from stretching when hot.

Tried the copper nuts from intake manifold then after a while it stretch out the stud, damaging the thread, so looking into using stainless helicoils , might do this now when removing the engine. Thanks for sharing some tips

Looking much better that the first one i got.

Now the block need to go in to match the wall clearance of the pistons and awaiting delivery of the head, might receive it tomorrow.
You are still using this manifold, correct?

I got the one above at a later stage but also had issues with fitment, the wastegate flange was a problem for the cradle and radiator and the turbo was way to far forward, no space for radiator. So I drawn up the adaptor you see in the first three pics for it to fit
