about the mudguard delete...aren't you concerned about stones and stuff hitting and scratching your rear bumper? especially with the wider wheels?

Them E39 BBS wheels still look the business!!!:thumbs:

My next mud flaps will be modified for this purpose if I go back to some.

As far as stones and scratches, if you are spinning your wheels or driving on dirt/gravel roads then yes mudflaps are needed, otherwise not really.

hi all,

wow its been a long time, been busy...
though its been a while i thought i should come for a confession again, and i have to say that i am still thoroughly enjoying my 330i every day!

been just over a year now since i've got it, of hassle free, pure driving pleasure.
hasn't missed a beat once, really impressed with the M54B30, such a smooth and powerful engine.
i'm feeling a bit inspired by my 330i lately, its just been so pleasant,

had a service done recently (Reynolds Auto in Retreat, Cape Town, awesome service), changed the:

oil
oil filter
fuel filter
plugs
bleed brakes and clutch, fluid replacement
valve cover gasket
rear brake pads
oil seal gasket where it connects to the block
belts

the car feels amazing after the much needed service,
157 000kms

also my wheels were FILTHY!!
so gave them a good 2000grit wet sand and a polish with Autosol,
took about 6hours but back to new,

the E39 BBS wheels still look perfect and i feel like they suite the car better every day!
the fitment, the style, everything..
just for a bit more low in the future, not much though..

i took a couple pics after the wheel refurb, cell phone pics

also i have a couple plans for the car in the near future, i want to get a little more out of it,
i also plan to attend a few track days in the future with it so slowly looking at a couple upgrades,

so first on the list;

Decat
Intake
Software (most likely Xcede)

underdrive pulleys

then cosmetically,
painting my kidney grills black this weekend,

then window tint 35% most likely,

then door chrome trim painted black (shadowline i think its called right?)

very amped on my 330i again:blowheart:raise:

any suggestions?

yeah, the idea is to go LED taillights in the rear, either clear or clear smoked,
then clear or clear smoked for the front and side indicators,

then black out headlight inners,
black out door trim
35% tint

style wise that will be the idea for the moment:tiptoe:

Personally I would stick with the ambers as its goes very well with oxford green. Also there is no need to black out your headlight inners, all the pre-f/l non-330i e46 came with black headlight inners, so just replace it with a black set.

Lovely car. I'd revert to the chrome grilles though - the 6-cylinder's extra gleam in the teeth is rather nice.

@yuben, thanks! i would like to upgrade my cars breathing and its air intake, but am struggling to find alternatives that look like they will be better then the stock setup. any suggestions?
K&N, AFE, Dinan, local, any suggestions?
most look like they are just going to suck in hot air from the engine bay, even with the supplied "heat shields"?
any better flowing intakes still in a box?

@sankekur, i know what you mean, the amber does suite the green rather well, almost classic, but does look dated to me somehow, i am still undecided between clear or smoked though, leaning towards clear atm...
i feel like its almost against my will changing the amber as green is one of the few colours it compliments, but i somehow just want a different look atm for the car, will beep the amber lights though

and thanks, will have a look for the non 330i black headlight inners, anyone have a spare set?

@Budleigh, thank you! but i really think the matte black suites the car better then chrome, i think the chrome is a bit:yuck: just in my opinion
suites certain paint colours though,
but will almost always choose the black trim over it

I think change the headlight inners first and then decide whether you still want clears. The current inners look better with clears, but you might feel differently once they are black.

Dude, do the decat and run a proper free flow and then see how much better it will breathe. I would recommend the Uni Q instead of Xcede. The gains and performance are really impressive. Just last Saturday I shocked an E90 330i when I came sailing past him and kept going:rollsmile:

i initially wanted to just get rid of all the cats and replace with tubing, as i thought the bmw system seemed decent enough at least for the time being, but then after realising there are also 2 built in cats in the manifolds that cant be removed without changing manifolds, a full freeflow system with manifolds is just the best choice,

and nice to see the e46's give the e90 n/a's a run :rollsmile:

thinking of either getting tnt or viper branches and then looking for advice on who can do a good job on the rest of the system for me? cape town area

also anyone know the prices on the branches from viper or tnt or if they still make them?
