So after fitting the wheels with some new rubber it was time to do my proper cleaning to match the just detailed car. This was done this past weekend with the detail the weekend before. The initial idea was just to wash the car and apply second layer of wax...., things got away from me... :roflol:

Products used:
Dragons breath wheel cleaner
Glossworx extreme wheel cleaner
Autoglym wheel cleaner
APC
Menzerna 2500
Rim wax

Used various brushes to clean the nooks and crannies and a finger pocket to apply the wax(much easier to apply). I really struggled with the sticky residue from the balancing weights. Each wheel must taken me over an hour of just cleaning residue....

Doesnt look too bad, considering i cleaned it as per my detail post about a week earlier

The lug nut holes.., where the OCD in me hates to see dirt

The insides were not too bad, but again was surprised how much dirt collected after a week

Initial wash with some autoglym wheel cleaner

Then some of the dragons breath wheel cleaner

the back had the most amount of iron to clean

A bit of agitation to loosen stubborn dirt

Pressure washed again

I then got tired of stopping to take pics, so this is after polishing with some menzerna 2500 and 2 applications of rim wax.., with about 15min curing time. I know its less than desirable but its better done with the wheels off.
I tried to capture the metallic flake, but was unsuccessful

Much better view

Even the rear has some metallic, its not just grey

While the wheels were off, its the best time to clean the arches. Not too bad cos i do try to clean them whenever i can.

Sprayed with some APC and left to dwell

Applied some of the dragons breath on the stub axle as the iron deposit were probably stuck there.

Pressure cleaned

Dressing applied

And all done back on the car.

Thanks Nikhil,

Dewald, Absolutely positively worth it. I love looking through the spokes of a wheel and seeing a perfectly clean inner rim.

Some more pics after my second coat of wax.....

My rims after waxing.... and first wash.... just using the pressure cleaner removed about 95% of the dirt, but i still used the daytona brush with some maxi suds

these spokes are wide enough for me to get my hand in and wipe the inside of the rim...:joy:

Thanks guys, I prefer to work on the looks of the car as i have done whatever i wanted to do in terms of performance and consumption.

I love the sight of a clean beemer in my garage.., actually need to come up with another idea on how to reduce the soot on the rear, without using downturned tips.

Does anyone have an idea on how much of an effect a heavier wheel would have on the car. I have been reading on it, but i am trying to understand it in simple terms..., a 1kg heavier wheel is equivalent to....? 10kg mass in the car for instance?

I know my new wheel setup is approx 3kg heavier at each axle, i notice the performance decrease but i find the car more stable through the corners with bigger wheels and lower profile which are heavier.

I decided after more than a year after the last detail Gabby was due for another round. The idea was not so much about correction for me but more about removing contaminants and putting some good wax on that would last a while.

Thanks for sharing Sash. This should have gone into a separate thread in the detailing section. I actually stumbled upon this by chance.

Car looks mint. :inlove:

Thanks Pravin, was thinking about creating a separate thread but wasnt sure how many actually appreciate detailing on here. Was supposed to create the same thread on Crazydetailer too...
