I fitted the mudflaps on this weekend, while it was not a difficult task, i found it better to remove the wheels and have much more space to work with.

It seemed that the quality looked good, bar for the two way tape that seems like some places had come lose in some places.

First issue i encountered was that fact that the retrofit kit from BMW only has one matching screw. The others need to be drilled. I chose not to drill into the body and bumper but drilled into the Fender lining. In this picture there are 3 screws fitted and the 3 clips on the bumper are not fitted

The next issue was that supplied fittings did not fit correctly into the location. In this case the only way to remove the old clip was to push the centre in, which meant it goes into the fender lost forever. The supplied clip looked to be 1mm bigger and the old one could not be used. That the centre piece did not go all the way in . I trimmed the piece sticking out.

It seemed as if the fender lining was not as straight as the mudflap was

Then the other issue was that the holes on the skirting for the front mudflap didnt match. Unfortunately here, at its highest drill still couldnt fit under the car...

Clips and screws that werent used... although these did not match the holes, nor did they match the instruction that i found online.

I prefer the look with the mudflaps, it deifinitely does it job, the rears are still wider than the mudflaps but i dont see much dirt getting onto the bumper and skirting now.

Some pics of the car with the mudflaps. Noticed a big difference regarding the amount of crap that wold normally get up onto the bumper.

After my car got back from the panelshop. I had some bits that have been waiting for about 6months that needed to go on.

Decided to go with CF badges and emblems. While i liked the black and white ones, the blue and white seemed to work better in my case.

They were imported so hope the longevity is decent. Only have a few pics as the weather has not been good enough to get more pictures outside.
Bought a set of seven

So as soon as my ankle had healed...., ok healed enough for me to wash my cars and hold my DA polisher, i had to tackle the E60 especially after getting her back from the Panelshitter(HJ Bosch and Sons) i mean panel beater.

There was loads of overspray on the driver door, passenger front door, in between the door(b pillars) and my rims. Most people wouldnt notice it, but i did and coupled with the awesome free swirls and buffer trails the panelbeater gave me for christmas, I couldnt stand it much more...

I tried documenting but i realised that the detailers also have mastered the art of taking before and after pics......

Since i am still learning my new camera.., i may be getting old but the camera picks up scratches that i cant see with my eyes.....:YesNo:

In some 'after pics' there is a marked improvement but a scratch or 2 left, while when looking i cannot see the scratch....:crazylaugh:

ok, while i tried to capture whatever i could, in most cases the car was in decent condition and just the issues mentioned above that needed attention.

Started off with the basic wash and foam using advanced snow foam.

I then clayed the car and there wasnt much dirt on the car, but the overspray could be felt and the clay removed a fair amount of, possibly due to the car having been waxed prior to the painting.

First of my new toys was the Scholl S3 and I used this with my LCC Orange pad. I am not looking for 100% correction so even all swirls werent removed I was still happy.

Before of my bonnet which was painted and polished by the panel shop.

After one pass with the above combo.

My b pillars before didnt look that bad

After it looked way better

after

The rest of the car had little signs of improvement and after trying many times to catch the difference on camera i gave up. I then got to finally use the fusso dark coat on my car after using it on my dads car as well as friends vehicles, but after about 9 months it found its way onto my car.

I then tried to clean up the headlight and taped it up and tackled one half first.
The before shot

the side that was polished showed a marked difference i think, not sure if i managed to catch on camera.

Since there was some overspray on my rims i decided it was time to give them good clean too. each wheel was removed, washed with Auto glym wheel cleaner and glossworx wheel and tyre cleaner with the respective brushes. My rims were given this treatment when i purchased them so it was a breeze to clean now

After a simple wash and hose down, mind the black spots on the out edge, i believe the previous owner ran the runflat ....flat as it feels like hardened rubber that i have to scrap off, this particular rim was almost comlpetely black on that lip when i got it, but regular cleaning has got it to where it is now.
img_0645_388210662.jpg

I polished the front and back of the wheels with the scholl s3 as well using the machine on the bigger areas and the hand pad for the smaller areas. I love it when the inside/back of the rim has a shine.

img_0648_1116733108.jpg

I then proceeded to apply a layer of rim wax on the entire wheel and buffed off

And that concluded the work on the outside off the car, other new toys included the autofinesse interior kit which i was keen to try out.

The driver seat obviously had the most wear/dirt so i curious to see the difference here. Unfortunately due to lack of light i was forced to use the flash and the cleaned section looks shiny, but it actually isnt.

50/50 showing the oils and dirt removed using the hide cleanse.

The rest of the interior was not much to capture on camera, but a fair amount of dirt was removed. The leather conditioner was applied allowed to dry and buffed off. The plastics were cleaned using the total interior cleaner and also the Spritz interior detailer applied( love the smell of this).

The final after shots..., barely managed to get this inbetween the rains in centurion

The tailpiece was cleaned and polished with some sonax chrome polished and waxed with collonite 845.

Hooray for mudflaps - they do their job well BUT...I've said it before...
Mudflaps on a Beemer is like a bib on a supermodel, imo.
Your car look F R E S H bud, labor of love.
