Thanks for the compliment, there arent many E60 fans out there, internationally they have as big a following as the 3 series..., in terms of modifying and parts as well.

I actually quite like the E60, especially in MSport Guise... Not quite as good as an E39, but thats just me... :=):

I also have a soft spot for a E39 m-sport, aged extremely gracefully.

So the week that past saw Gabby in for some suspension maintenance at Axis. This was in the pipeline for about 4 months when Peter did the Oil service and reported back on the ageing LCAB.

The parts were ordered through Moranor and the Powerflex leading LCAB were the choice

Hard to see the wear on them but they were quite soft.

The stabiliser swing support on the left also needed to be replaced

The Leading Control arms nicely cleaned as per Axis norm

Cleaned wheel arch.., i like

New Leading bushes fitted, after Peter added some new swear words to the greek language.

All done fitted and clean

Upon stripping Peter also noticed the Trailing arms were worn and as quickly as possible a replacement set of Meyle complete arms were sourced. Since there was alot of downtime and time wasted waiting for parts there was less time for pictures of those parts and fitting.

Just had the alignment done this morning and all is good, feeling more in tune with what the car is doing. Previously i found myself constantly correcting the car especially on the freeway(100km/h +) and am glad that is now gone. The powerflex bushes are indeed stiffer than standard, which can be felt on the urban roads(bad ones) which Peter made me fully aware of :fencelook: , but I think it is acceptable given that the car already has a sport suspension and the difference is not as much compared to a non-msport E60. I have not had the chance to throw the car into the corners as yet as my 3yr old insisted on driving back with me when i picked up the car as well as its been a hectic weekend.

Will be doing a trip to KZN this week, so really looking forward to that.

The issues with parts and pressing out of bushes saw Peter driving around to view and collect parts including a missing lock nut :flyfun: and Sean arranging almost same day delivery of parts once they were in his hands( lets not mention SA Customs delays)
:praise::praise::praise:
A big thank you and appreciation to Sean, Peter and Alex for all the time and effort put in to fit me in during this time of the year with the difficult to get E60 parts before my trip to KZN.

Glad to hear it and I am sure you are relieved.

I could have bedded your rear tyres for you and am most willing should you ever wish me to.

That machine of yours is quick and now with the twin pipes it sounds perfect!

Yeah, I am,

My rears are bedded in quite well, while doing my balancing and alignment they informed me I have to consider changing them soon. Their quote for Bridgestones RE002 were 4200 each Lol.

Thanks Peter, That exhaust note is just addictive and seems to have a calming effect.... Lol.

Enjoyed my drive to Durban managed a cool 6.1l/100 with 4 adults and a full boot. Left at 4 and arrived at 10, traffic was great, but bergview was quite busy.

Have to say the exhaust tone is different in Durban and loving it more.

Somehow cornering on the N2 is much more fun then the N1 in Gauteng, I envy the Durban drivers that use the road often.

I will find any excuse to go to pavilion or gateway.

That because you're filling Sea Water 108 in your tank

I am sure it needs the rears to be settled.
Bring it over so that I may attend to it

After reaching durban i noticed that there was more soot than normal on the car, but more especially on the under side of the bumper, just behind the wheels. It got me worried thinking that the exhaust was leaking as my wife went a little too fast in the extended parking at Bergview and something touched underneath.

When i managed to get the car onto the lift, I was relieved to know that there were no issues, no leaks nothing.

The reason for the post is actually the part that came after.., the exhaust guy who was checking it spent more time telling how well built and neat the exhaust was. He was impressed with the workmanship and welds. His initial impression was that the car would be loud with just a single box(family car), but he was surprised at the tone under load.

:thumbs: To Sanjeev and team, I will be giving him this news as well.

And another chapter in my cars book has been completed. After endless searching and questions to installers in my need for bass
http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=38997

i have collected my car from Kevin at Payntwagon Audio. Although Kevin is not on this forum, it is important that I mention professionalism and courtesy offered. I am not one to spend on impulse and always try to budget for things. this resulted in my plan for my sound upgrade changing numerous times as other priorities dwindled my 'savings' for the upgrade. This meant that each time i had to change what was going in or how the install was going to be done. Again Kevin understood my perspective and agreed to complete the install.

The end result was just going to be a 4ch amp, powering the ground zero underseats and splits. But after listening to the end result we both felt it was lacking in the lower frequencies and the higher frequencies needed more tweaking. The issue with the sound going off completely hampered the tweaking but also didn't throw Kevin off his game and he set basically by eye.

It was decided after that i would actually take his advice and fit a 12" i had lying at home and he would then be able to play the settings and adjust accordingly.

the end result ..... amazing.., I didnt want a pavement pounder, i wanted it louder, clearer, and have some oomph to play lower frequencies. And it does all that and more.

Keeping in mind that there has been no cutting or porting to get bass into the cabin, everything runs of an old but good, what is considered low powered amplifier in todays terms I am happy.

Lets see how long this lasts before I feel the need for more. At this point after listening to a proper SQ car i have also realised how bad quality music we listen to on a daily basis. With the simple upgrade and the right person tuning the system I am now hearing my own music differently. It also highlights the importance of good quality music.

Most importantly I quote kevin, 'i dont have customers, I make friends and build relationships' and this shone through when we encountered those issues with the sound going off, all my questions, my change of plans, use of his car when i needed it and the constant feedback. So much so that my other car will be paying him a visit soon.

I will take some pics of the setup hopefully today.
