My 530d M-Sport (Detail and wheels update pg 11)

Was going through some pics on my Pc and found these below, only then realised i never posted them

My steering wheel was showing signs of age and i decided it needed a bit of TLC

When cleaning it up i found that it actually had plastidip or something similar on it. I initially intended on wrapping the entire thing but didnt want to wrap over the peeling paint. After cleaning it i realised that there nothing really wrong with the underlying plastic

I initially covered the 'v' with carbon fibre vinyl as per pic above, but due to low quality vinyl it started to lift. I have since painted it satin black but cant seem to find my pictures, will have to take new ones.

Yo Sash,

How easy is it to take of the bits? Are there screws or just clips involved? Thanks bud...I think at some stage i may want to re-coat mine as well...

Hey Gav,

In the case of my car i have to take out the airbag and thereafter theres a few screws that need to be removed. Theres a method to release the airbag that seems a bit tricky when you first do it but thereafter its easier once you see how the clips work. Its basically a clip that holds the airbag in 4 corners, by pushing the clip from the behind(bottom of steering) it releases the 4 clips. Hard to explain without a video.

I googled the method for my car and saw the video on how to remove it. AS per normal our cars use mainly torx screws, so you need a set of torx allen keys or sockets

Looks good Sash,:inlove: did you dyno after the exhaust upgrade?

Hey Ray, not yet, wrote my last exam on Friday, so will make a turn at FR & R at the next Dyno evening.

Popped in to FR&R this evening. Have not looked at difference in detail, but figures are about the same, lower compared to previous run, but I had diesel boost. This time no additives.

I am happy with outcome although not sure why the second run was the way it was. I was told car was hot. ..

Not the car was hot but the ambient in dyno room

Especially on hot days there will be less oxygen in dyno room on second run.
Please also do not forget that our cars "consume" roughly 50000 liters of air per minute.
If ventilation is not perfect, your car will be breathing more hot and used air than fresh air and the result can be seen on your dyno sheet

Makes sense now that i think about it, it was a warm evening, even warmer inside the room as well.

Thanks Rolf, the above result is due to your knowledge and experience in this area. :bravo:

Nice going Sash, Dyno figures will always fluctuate, Devon dyno'd on different days and had about 20hp difference. What matters is how the car feels and how she puts it down on the tarmac. Im also sure that the results would have been a bit higher if you had the DSL boost on this run  Your car is stunning and pulls like a steam engine :inlove:

Thanks Ray, the dyno was really a formality, my butt dyno actually shows higher torque/power at lower revs, the dyno only records from 2000rpm and feel the most before 2000rpm, after that it feels very similar if at all different.

These days it still quite warm and FR& R was not busy at all, i was the last car, only 17 went on and in the 1hr i spent there nobody else signed up.

For those that have not attended recently, FR&R have started to use a Projector, so at least everybody can see the screen :biglol: Big help in my opinion,

Insane figures bud!:praise: Yep it was pretty warm when I was on the Rollers the temp was +- 28degrees. Haha yeah projector makes a fairly decent difference and now you can stand outside and watch the straight pipe diesels dyno and smoke up the room. :fencelook:

Thanks for the compliment, there arent many E60 fans out there, internationally they have as big a following as the 3 series..., in terms of modifying and parts as well.
