Decided to check what numbers my car is pushing after having s/w for a few months,
NB: i put in diesel tech when filling up the tank and only drove around 8km to FR&R, so it had some role in the figures.

no haha but still his graph suggests that his car does lol
could your software not have moved power slightly right so that he can change gears later??

or was did sash want torque and power bit earlier for towing and town driving reasons??

We could influence torque development at lower rev ranges BUT this would mean that the car might become undrivable under certain conditions.
Our software makes use of the "torque limiter" option at low rpm to protect the car's drivedrain ESPECIALLY when towing

FAST 5:rollsmile: Awesome power Sash the car is a real sleeper:thumbs:

I love the dark look of the e60's in Fast 5, need to get going with my cosmetic changes.

i love how u making 400nm at idle haha

Erm, the dyno checks power between a predetermined Rev range, in this case 2000 - 4500 rpm.
So i am making 400 nm at 2000 rpm. Most dyno sheets are like this, are you only noticing it on mine?

Erm... They do the dyno from 2000rpms to a predetermined value in this case 4500 rpm. ..

So after a long wait i finally managed to decide on doing my exhaust. My apologies in advance to all those i pestered regarding this and asking my questions upon questions.

While a straight pipe on a diesel is nice, i wanted something different and after hearing Arbees setup it got me thinking that there actually might be some hope of a good I6 sound.

I did a fair amount of reading and spent alot of time of looking at international sites and videos of other E60 diesels. Whilst other countries have easier access to performance exhausts at relatively decent pricing and we are not so lucky, which only leaves custom setups.

My final decision was to go with a 76mm exhaust with a single rear box ( as big that could fit) from Powerflow Edenvale. Made the booking with Sanjeev and was there early this morning.

Some of the progress pics...

Lots of space under the car

Big std exhaust and box

The replacement box

The new exhaust in progress

After a decent wash , some better pics.

and finally some videos (mind my sons voice in the videos, he was about as excited about the exhaust as me)

idle before

idle after

Tone before

Tone after

Cruising on the freeway theres almost no difference. Driving around locally it all depends on load, less load doesnt sound much different to before, more load you can hear the deeper rumble, full throttle, sounds like awesome. I think my consumption will go up after this, just have to hear that tone.

Might just be me, but the tone seems to be louder when in manual or sport mode but could just be due to the shuft points and the upshifts are noticeable due to the deep tone.

Can you feel a difference in power development?

Its a bit difficult to say, but I notice that the traction light flashes a bit more. It might be in my head though. I will be at the next dyno event at FR & R (after my exams) to be sure, but right now, the tone is overpowering the need for power.... :roflol:

...... I notice that the traction light flashes a bit more......

This is actually exactly what should be happening
The special 76mm downpipe construction with expansion room will increase your engine's torque and that is why the traction light is flashing more than before :joy:

Thanks Guys, am looking for reasons to drive...

Funny story...On a side note, on my way home this afternoon there was a G6 GTi driving a little ecstaticly, driving right behind me, then coming alongside, accelerating just to cut infront of me, although there was no cars in his lane and we both going straight...

Then each time he lets me catch up with him just to accelerate ahead. All this time, i just ignored, so its not like i was hinting to join, mainly cos it just wasnt the road for it.

When we finally get to a road that a decent length and quality and shift into sport and the car drops a gear, i accelerate to match his speed and my new found tone probably rang in his ear, cos he slowed down.

There were 2 stretches thereafter where i waited for him, but he decided to stay far away and seemed his driving improved too...
