Hi guys,

Am new to posting on the forum, but have been reading and learning for a while now. I am looking to join the family and have come across the following vehicle:
http://www.subarupretoria.co.za/Use...cle=1786982&vpyCurrencyID=1&ProgramPictures=1

http://www.automart.co.za/cars/for-sale/bmw-5-series-530d-at-e60-2007-id-750936

I believe this is the facelift but will have to confirm. The price is neg, car is in impeccable condition, full serice history at BMW, new bridgestone tyres all round, interior is also, in excellent condition. Car drives well, no funny noises, pulls well although i havent driven another 530d/330d.

Has front and rear PDC, sunroof, no Navigation, not sure about other BMW options though. If you mention it i can say if it has it or check if it does.

Any particular faults/ issues to check for? How does one confirm its the facelift? According to BMWVIN it was produced in 2007/04 and the motor is the 173 version :
Engine M57/T2
Displacement 3.00
Power 173

Thanks in advance.

Easiest way is from the rear lights and gear lever. From the pics, it seems to be a facelift. However, make 100% sure this is the same car in the pics, as sometimes dealers are lazy to take pics and re-use old ones.

Thanks for the reply, i saw the vehicle this afternoon and drove it, its looks better in the flesh. It has the gearknob as in the pics and the lights are the ones that use leds ( i think, the taillights have those lines of red light)

These are awesome cars

I don't know enough about the E60's in general to point out common faults, but the 3.0d motor is a brilliant piece of engineering and fairly reliable. However, like all 2nd hand cars, just do your homework. Check for accident damage and go to a BMW dealer with the car and ask them for MP history, claims, accident comments (if any), etc. As long you've got the car and can hand over the keys, they should not have a problem giving you the info.

Cool thanks, will BMW give that info over the phone if have the reg and VIN? or are they like Mercedes who requires a copy of the license?

In terms of inspecting the car, I believe I am quite thorough, except that i cant get under the car(during work hours). I normally check for the oil leaks, extra clean engine, condition of body, wheels, interior. Lining up of panels. I also look at the paint, one can make out by the paint finish for touch ups. I normally lift up all the rubbers and panels along the doors and fender to check to over spray. Theres aother stuff as well as looking that the paint matches the mileage as well as the body parts. after 100k your headlight (if not protected) should have stone chips on both side etc.

Everything looks kosher, has only seen BMW dealerships and it did have a bumper bashi on the rear left, but only warranted the bumper skin to be replaced and spray on the fender(very well i might add).

Should i look at an optional warranty, been only reading bad things about motorite and hollard(even though its up to R725 per month). Any recommendations?

I have decided to not take their warranty as its a POS, managed to negotiate to R195k all inclusive , but not the finance initiation fee. Keeping in mind that they a R5500 on the road fee.

Waiting for finance approval now.

What a beauty :bravo: my favourite colour.

By the way, just double check the direction of the tyre fitment. Could be wrong.
