Few updates: Acquired one of the last parts required for the surround view retrofit. Finally got a bite on eBay and managed to negotiate a bit on price. Guys with RHD specific parts know what they have wherever they are in the world...
I also FINALLY got a button that I found to have an acceptable finish! I could probably fit this blindfolded at this point...
December makes it a bit easier to go looking at cars...
I've managed to see F90s in almost all configurations/combos now LOL. Somehow white and Marina Bay Blue are still the colours I love the most...
My father in law acquired a new E200 last week... Not my cup of tea, but a great car nonetheless... especially for the money (149km delivery mileage on it for R600K... missing Nav, but has all the driver assists, sunroof, lighting etc...
I also FINALLY got a button that I found to have an acceptable finish! I could probably fit this blindfolded at this point...

Sure you guys have also been busy with holiday prep if driving over the holiday period.
As usual I went in for BMW's free Holiday Check at JSN
They noted that I was within 2700km of requiring quite a bit of work, so motivated to have it done now. Took about half a day to get approval, but it was all good.
Oil Service, Front brake pads, air filters, microfilters, spark plugs, "service rear axle" aka Diff Oil and associated labour came to around 16K (which motorplan covered).
Interestingly, it was put on the system and FASTA data read... which motorplan covered for R295... and was covered on a separate invoice to everything else. As far as I know that isn't a 'regular' thing, but I didn't have time to ask and I didn't have to pay for it so didn't care enough. Maybe its why it took half a day to get approval
Car went off to Kyalami Supa Quick for alignment and for me to take a look at the undercarriage myself. Good service from Nolan and Andrew despite being very busy.
Anyway car is going really well and looking forward to the trip down.
Hope everyone traveling has a safe trip and is careful out there!

I wanted an OEM black badge so as soon as these became available I ordered one.
I left the competition badge on it (but aligned the M5 part to the original silver badge in case I decide to remove it). I have the ride height, sway bars dampers, the carbon bits etc... and some other plans... so I don't feel quite as bad as an M badge on a 316i non-M Sport @Neven , but I am still on the fence :roflol:
The extremely slow retrofit prep continues with the last of the missing buttons fitted. Wiring coming soon.
Also decided to change the wheel colour to something darker... watch this space.

So all these extra buttons... its about time some of them started to work...
Ended up just doing the lane departure warning (LDW) which relies on adding option 5AD to the vehicle order and coding modules KAFAS (front 'connected drive camera' which is used for lane departure warning, high beam assist and speed limit info), HU_NBT, KOMBI (the cluster) and FRM (needs to be coded for button cluster to work)
Most guys who do the retrofit do not add the buttons and FDL code the LDW to remain on.
Additional hardware required over and above the button module and the need for the KAFAS unit in the car:

32307848332 Steering wheel wiring harness (this was already ordered in error when doing my LCI steering retrofit)
32307850622 Foam sound deadening
Will be retrofitting the radar units for blindspot assist & surround view cameras soon... need to find mirrors with blindspot assist and cameras. If anyone has any leads let me know

LED Lighting kit arrived so off to work changing out the bulbs. They really look very different. Alot of the time with LEDs (certainly my experience in the past) you end up with a nice hue, but they are a LOT dimmer than the warm incandescent bulbs. This kit definitely works a heck of a lot better than what I've had before.
There is a trick to releasing the clips on the front dome (the clips were quite a bit higher up than expected) and the rear needed a bit of coaxing but nothing that trim removal tools can't handle. Don't attempt to do this with metal tools.
Results speak for themselves. 50/50 and then all installed
Footwell lights... watch this space.
