So after selling my trusty Shield DA polisher, I took some time to figure out what to do next.

Decided I was going to go with this unit from Rupes. Not cheap but it is a great kit with everything you need. It is a different technology to the other polishers I've used before (forced rotation) but after all these years I reckon I know enough not to cause damage LOL

Thought I would share here instead of a new thread

My sound upgrade is still on hold waiting for my harnesses to arrive (hopefully not lost at the post office at this rate - long story but it arrived at the Kyalami post office but they have no idea where it is...

Anyway I have acquired some fairly high end equipment from a fellow fanatic as part of another trade...

So it has been a while since an update.

I had to say farewell to my KZN plates as I no longer have a property to use as a residence and it is too much of a mission to sort out via other methods... I could make do for a while just doing renewals but with the new car, it was getting irritating to jump through hoop after hoop.

I thought MJOLNIR was a fitting one for the M5 and somehow was available in Gauteng - so on it went!

AS DID

These billet black paddles...

Images and edit are not working it seems but at this point I am amazed anything works at all on this forum..

Anyway it was a 15 minute job - easy peasy

My cousin decided on blue for his 435

Same vendor on ali-express on both of these. Super high quality pieces and price was good vs. IND etc.

The wife wasn't too happy with the young new mistress... since she also has a full titanium exhaust system... so of course she needed to get something different to keep my attention...

hey LLew, I live in Kyalami Estate so I see your car around often. If you need to discuss anything let me know, we have done loads of M5 and a few making 1300NM to the ground. How's your clutches holding out?

So firstly BIG thanks to Sherwin at Xcede, Sanjay at The 357 and Shaun (Phoenix) for advice, info and help!

I went with Boodmod3 in the end as it seemed like the best match for my needs and my own comfort.

There isn't really much to show (and lighting wasn't the greatest). EXCUSE THE DUSTY SCREEN LMFAO.

You register an account and download the agent software. I did a trial last night just to make sure the agent and the website could read the VIN etc.

Earlier today, I bought the license and was instantly sent an activation key to my email. At this point the agent was running and I was logged in to bootmod3.net. Pop in the key, hit ACTIVATE and your license is married to your car.

Next step was choosing a map. Again, the advice of the guys above was invaluable. Hit flash and make sure you have a stiff drink on hand and plenty of fresh air if it's your first time.

It was a little nerve-wracking since (in true progress bar style) it stops at eg: 3% for a while, 80% etc and you wonder if it has frozen LOL.

A ton of error messages show up during the process as well, but they are all cleared at the end - brake failure, stability control failure, engine overheated, replace oil, parking brake not fully effective... etc etc etc.

The entire process took less than 10 minutes including buying the key

I haven't had much time to drive it so far, but initial impressions are very good. Throttle response is very different and using some key points on a short drive, the improvement is SIGNIFICANT even without adapting.

Will post more thoughts in coming weeks.

I think i posted elsewhere but not on this thread:

Unfortunately with the way this year has panned out potentially 1 or two months of having to deal with the space issue now seems to have no end in sight. We were supposed to be moving into a new place around about now. Sale on my place fell through, tenants are a no go and it turns out the deal on the new house is a no-go as well... Although it was for the better on balance, this leaves me in a less than ideal situation with the cars... As irritating as it is, I thank my lucky stars things did pan out as they did though.

Anyway a little project for the M5 (apart from detail prep) was that I had some cheap carbon wrap from the radio installation on the Alfa. Decided to do the trim more to see how it looked than anything else.  It was also an excuse to break in a new heat gun I quite like it and it has been holding up well so far. If it still looks like this in 6 months it can stay LOL.

Also just adding this pic - because it isn't every day that they are all clean and not under a cover or on charge these days :(
