have a question around the ISO for JB4
1- what is it?
2-How do i know if my JB4 has it? (bought the unit second hand)
3- will it make a difference to my car?

Had a few runs last night with a stage 2 + scrirroco R and wasn't impressed he managed to catch and pass in 5th,

1) ISO is isolated boost control, i.e. it gives full control of boost over to the JB.
2) There is no ISO control for the F-series cars at the moment as far as I'm aware (but there is for the E-series N55)
3) See pt2

A Stage2+ Scirocco R is no joke. They are very strong, but it's strange that he should catch you at higher speeds. What map were you using?

Nawti,

please give us a full rundown of the specs of your car and the mods installed, your signature is non existent so I don't know what you packing,

were did you get the jb from?
who installed for you?
how are you switching maps?
has the car been logged using the jb?
are you using the latest jb interface that logs high and low fuel pressures?
has the been dyno'd before and after the mods?

a stage 2+ Rocc R is no joke, what it looses on the launch it more than makes up for on the roll and on the top, I had to move over to a white one in Durban late last year on the freeway and he came blowing past me like I was standing still, this was at 2xxkmh no less...

get the basics right with your set up and then go from there... we all here to help...

thanks really appreciate the helpfulness.

Bought the JB4 andDP from a guy down in drubs,he's on the forum.
I installed according to the docs, both DP and JB4
I switch via the jb4 interface
I have one set of logs on map2 with just the JB4 no DP
Not sure if it is the latest interface but current version is 11/04/2013
Dyno before mods was 212wkw,will dyno after mods on saturday.

I also need to know what the latest firmware version is,from N54tech.com i gather it might be 8_6,which i have download and will try to update tonight, can you advise how to check what the current version is on my unit

thanks again:praise:

you have a M135i? auto/man? does yours have the electric or pneumatic boost solenoid?

what car was the jb on before? was it an F20 or E82? reason I ask is I know of someone that had the e82 N55 jb fitted to the F20 m135 and the car didn't like it...

you need a second set of Logs with your dp and perhaps some fuel in to compare, if you don't mind, can you send me the first set of logs via email, lets see what I can see...

Hey guys
A question on the car adapting and changing maps:
no hardware mods. N55 Jb5 stage 2 with ISO.

How long does it take for the car to adapt once selecting map 1 or 5. I find Map 5 pulls much better, but map one is also good.

Does the vehicle have to adapt each time the difference maps are selected or is the previous info "saved in history" and continued on once the map is selected again?

Another question:
When on map 5 and occasionally on map 1 it sounds as though the car is bleeding boost through the actuator, I can hear the turbo spool but sounds as though the boost is being regulated by releasing it slightly when I am not fully on the pedal. Is this normal, thanks.

Will look to run logs this weekend.

Map 5 adaption should be complete over the course of about 3 or 4 2000 rpm to redline pulls in 3rd/4th gear. If you change maps you lose this adaption and will need to repeat the above process.

Map 1 is the "safe map" for no hardware mods and Map 5 will tune according to fuel quality, potentially giving you a whack more boost based on measure timing/knock.

As for your other question you may just be hearing the increased induction noise as a result of running higher boost. Best thing would be to read codes/run a log to determine wastegate duty cycle and requested v.s. actual boost to make sure all is well.

Thanks, you have answered my question perfectly!
