I have a question how would you reset all maps to there default settings if they were changed ? I am getting a second hand unit but nervous about the map settings

Eish man. I seriously suggest you get some one experianced to install and update your firmware for you. You shouldn't be attempting this as your own diy if you asking questions like this.
We all here to learn but I strongly suggest you do some more research.

To answer your question, only map 6 settings can be changed. Other than that u canot change the parameters of the other maps.
When loading the jb assuming u have ISO than click the box that says rest to default settings.

Good luck man. Enjoy.

I couldnt agree more!

I got the JB4 about a week ago and some times it feels very quick and then other times slow. My question is. What map should I be running and how do I get the newest update on the Jb4. I've only got the JB4 and bmw performance exhaust.

Ditto... Map 1 or map 5 will be best... Conditions like ambient air temp, intake air temp, octane, baro pressure all contribute to how much the jb will turn up the power..

To update your hex you need to plug your USB cable into your laptop and use the jb software to upgrade. Please read the complete instructions on n54 tech . Com before attempting anything unfamiliar or you could just ask on here..

Hey guys
I have a question that might be answered in this thread, but I need a quick answer as I will be buying the product tonight and dont have time to read through the whole thread. How can you tell the difference between harness A and B, not on the car but with the TMAP/harness plug. I am assuming the only difference between harness A and B is the Tmap plug?

The JB4 unit a stage 2 N55 unit. I require Harness A.
My car is an late 2010 135i n55 DCT, the Jb4 came off a 2013 135i n55 DCT. I have not managed to determine if the whether the car has manual/ auto/ DCT will determine if harness A is required or B or if a production date will determine this.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'm fairly certain production year would dictate which TMAP was included rather than transmission, but I don't have a clue what the cutoff production date might be between the 2 types.

Without the car it came off to examine I suppose the only thing you can do is use this pic to determine what the harness plug from the JB should look like in each case:
new_n55_harness.jpg

...they do look significantly different so the shape/catch of the harness on the JB should give it away.

This harness wont work on your car if it is from a 2103 model. You need a Type A.

Theoretically speaking if you use the correct mix of fuel and NF, and NF gives the quoted octane boost for that mix, and you come out with the required 104+ RON required octane you should be able to run Map 7 without fear of timing/knock issues (or rather the JB kicking you back to Map 4 as a result of these issues).

That said, running Map 7 without additional cooling such as a bigger IC/meth is always going to result in heatsoak after a few runs.

Another option is get the flex fuel hardware and run an ethanol mix.

for optimal performance on map 7 NF alone wont make the grade, add about 5lt of ethanol to a bottle of NF and 20lt pump for optimal results... remember to do a few adaption pulls first as the FF value on map 7 is adaptive and will "learn" the new fuel mix...

hold on tight after that...

Thanks for the info
Would it then be better to rather use some witches brew and 95 shell
Also any idea how long it takes to adapt

It takes at least 2-5km to adapt depending on driving style, the more octane the better, if you have witches brew available then toss it in as well, I found ethanol to be really nice in getting the ave ign values down when logging vs brew or nf...you also can't go higher than Approx 20/30% ethanol content in m135i without flex fuel being installed So the witches brew will help as well...
