Hi,
I think thats the air mass sensor, controls how much air goes in.
Btw why did you install a cone instead of a pan filter?:dunno:

I agree, its not a golf. Cone filters just suck all the hot air from the engine and actually reduces performance with big noise. Id rather put a performance pan filer. much better performance with a mild tone.
just my suggestion.

* filter lol:banghead:

Cone filters have their purposes..

On a VW or a Corsa

On a Turbo car..

But also if done right, insulated from under bonnet heat & fed with nice cool air then they work if you want an annoying loud noise like the guys with VW's or Corsa'a

K&N or Simota is the lil cheaper option but never had a prob with those...

Id say K&N, thats what I have. I just slapped mine in without a remap.
I wonder if a remap would make a diff :dunno:

Rather get a col air induction (CAI) kit if you want performance increase. K&N make an excellent kit for the E90, probably for the E36 too. called the K&N 57i

You don't need to remap your car afterwards when putting in a cone filter as the MAF allows for it.Make sure you have a heatshield or you are wasting your time.

As for the people who say don't do it.If you have an E36 you can get a gain of between 7-10hp if you have a decent kit with heatshield. You also get the induction sound which some people like. Many people on SA go for a decat which makes the car noisier than putting on a CAI kit

The K&N 57i is a good kit but not as good as a Dave-F kit

I thought about fitting a performance filter, but seeing as my car and the e46 M3 uses the same filter I don't really see the point, if it good enough for the M3 its good enough for me :)

If more power was as simple as fitting a filter with bigger holes, all manufacturers would do it. If you have seen the difference in the bores of engines run on factory paper filters vs engines run with these flytraps, you would not consider it at all.

Sankekur you just said it perfectly

As for a decent Kit with a heat shield? MMMmmmm that metal thing around the filter gets so hot at times you can fry an egg on it. De-CAT doesn't make your car louder if its done properly:dunno: And reason for De-Cat is due to blockage and the cheapest way is to take it out. Why change something if its not broken and has no effect rather than sucking in more dirt and heat....
