Hey Guys, I got home about an hour ago. Trip went quite well. Got stuck in Howick having a fat chat and chowing lekker food at delish-dish.

@Moranor thanks for all the help man, truly appreciate it!

@ RAArmstrong thanks for meeting up with us

@KAKA thanks for the call bud, appreciate the concern.

And thanks to Gizmo for taking Nick's car into good care.

@ Nick well done on the driving, it's no easy feat and was a tall order anyday of the week. Pity the bar didn't last all the way. (It broke just as we took the offramp into alberton) Luckily the car could limp to Gizmo's.

I did take some pics of the 2 E46's will post tomorrow. Now it's time to drive the Z4M :fencelook:

Just want to say thanks to Andy for helping me out, It was seriously appreciated and it was a pretty cool road trip, there were times that scared the shit out of my GF and I as being towed at that speed is not easy at all, you cannot take your eyes off the road for a split second. But Andy drove like a champ and got us home safely!

I had to continuously watch the bar to make sure it never had slack as it was made from 3 separate bars that connect up using pins, so we had to drive in sync with very gentle controlled braking which was not easy especially for over 700km!
At the end of the day we made it and luckily the bar only broke 15km from Gizmo's house, It's very difficult because I had to do the braking for Andy and when I apply the brakes hard we start rocking back and forth which automatically makes you let go of the brakes which is bad! and this is what caused me to brake the bar as we were coming to a robot and I was trying to stop Andy but things just didn't work out so well lol so the bar just snapped one time! but luckily I didn't go into the back of Andy's car!

All in all it was an epic trip. It was also very cool to meet up with Moranor and RAArmstrong, It was also cool to have a good breakfast before we set off!

The car is now at Gizmo and is going to be transformed into a reliable 6 speed manual 330d! A new turbo and a new gearbox means I will be keeping the car lol! I am not selling it after this much work has gone into it now!

I must say I am amped to see the photos, I unfortunately didn't take any.

Thanks again Andy for all the help!:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Luckily not, it bent in half on the one section and when it pulled straight again it just snapped like a twig.

Towing with a bar is better than a rope
Dad made two "tow bars”, about 15 years ago.
Consists of 3 pieces, 2 have hooks on them, hooks onto the car’s tow "loop or hook" then turn it to wind up the hook closed and the middle piece fits in between with 2 size 17 bolts and nut.
Fits nicely into the boot.
Towed quite a few friend’s cars without any problems nor damage, not many people know how to tow or be towed!

Glad all home safely and okay.

@ Nick, I see in these pics your foglight is still intact. This was in harrismith we stopped. So it didn't come off in Howick :dunno:

Exactly Right? Behind the scenes at the BMW dealerships. Don't trust what they do or get up to. Steer clear of dealers, period.
