A new ECU harness was sourced and repaired look at page 2...Gert also fixed that one.

The problem we faced was the main car harness which had been "modified" by whoever fitted the aftermarket ecu of unknown make and origin.

We still need to source a few plugs and trace the wires to make the rev counter work as well as the OBD.

just a tip, search for the howto online as to how to retrofit OBC to non OBC cars, theres a doc somewhere detailing plugs wires colors everything, this might be a great addition

i have a 1985 528i e28, and ive been researching how to add a onboard computer to it (obc)

The standard wiring in the car provided it has not been butchered will accommodate the OBC retrofit.
You shall obviously need the OBC computer as well as its very specific harness of which I have one with me which belongs to Waseem should you wish a pic of it.

As these project cars tend to do one thing leads to another.
The car had no interior courtesy /marker lights operational for the switchgear so off I went on to the path of frustration.
Now for a guy who can read wiring schematics (ratslaaf aka Gert) it is easy peasy almost.
For me it is a challenge.
Some of the things I found on my journey

Had it plastic welded by my plastics guy

and fitted it back

and here one has absolute evidence of my electrical abilities

The switches are illuminated :)
Just a matter of a few wires and new globes :)

Car looks stunning however i would opt for more period correct wheels:=):

was my first impression when the wheels were delivered to me.

Two things have since happened.
The first being that I have grown to like the wheels and two which is most important the car handles almost like a new (read that as a modern car) car with the new suspension and wheel combo.

It is far more neutral in high speed corners and equally does not oversteer as much as they are known to do.
It is equally very sure footed under hard braking.

Elton spent a considerable amount of time researching the suspension/wheel set up and the results are a thrilling ride which is not harsh but controlled.

I also have to admit that I was not a big fan of those wheels when I first saw them, but they are slowly growing on me.

We really theorized and tested the suspension and wheel setup, along with NOT wanting to make it look like every other e28. (Not that there is anything wrong with the classic/period look, we just wanted something outside the norm)

Saying that, I had a set of these 17's refurbished incase the ride was harsh, as well as the deep dish look is always a winner

Some of our hands on suspension testing :-D
Which is one of my favorite photos during this restoration/refurbishment

Here is a pic of the first time I saw it outside of the Magicians workshop.

Pete has really really really, spent more time this year on the build, than most people spend on their marriage.
Painstakingly going from bumper to bumper, making sure every mechanical component is perfect, looks or is new, original or better, upgrading, protecting and renewing anything that would create the slightest doubt in his mind, and most times causing him much frustration getting it PERFECT.
Words cannot describe the effort, late nights, dedication and passion Peter has put into this car, all whilst having many other customers and another large project on the go.

We did have some fun along the way. The smile on Peters face in this photo, almost shows his nature Karma and Aura.

I cannot thank or praise Peter and his family enough for taking on this project, the guidance and advise he has given me in my life since meeting him, the attitude in which he approaches life is infectious, his wisdom so easily shared.
Proud to say he is one of the best Mentors I have.

I like the pics Elton, especially that last one. Peter doesn't often smile, but when he does its infectious. He's a mentor to many of us hey.

Enough blowing smoke up his backside though, he still needs to finish the white car!

those deep dish wheels will look great on the car and make it handle like an ox cart

There you go fixed

the 17" should be a fair bit lighter with the correct tires it should gain grip under most conditions :) that is if the offset is correct on the 17"
