\i tried to buy some transmission fluid from there. The service manager tells me that they dont sell any to "outsiders". They'll never see another cent of mine or anybody I know that has anything to do with a BMW. Fools.

My 98 328i used to get serviced at Umhali BMW but the customer service was terrible. Once the car came back without the service indicator being reset. Took it back and they say that the cluster is flauty. Take it to mt friends workshop and not even 2min Bobs your uncle the service indicator is reset. From that day I never go there. Go to Fordicks on Pinetown. Excellent service. And there no problems with bookings of services. Will recomend anybody to go there.

Here's a story for you... about Forsdicks BMW Tyger Valley....

These guys give Bad Service a whole new meaning. My wife drives a BMW 130i, still under motorplan. During the last few months we noticed that the release bearing on the BMW is getting noisy, so with the last regular service, in April 2011, we asked them to have a look at it. I dealt with a guy called Shaun Sampson, who assured me that thay will have it sorted in a jiffy.

When we collected the BMW after the service, Mr S told me they replaced the gearbox oil, as that would definitely get rid of the noise. They also ran "some tests" on the car, and found nothing else to be the problem. I assured him that even I (with my limited knowledge of cars, gearboxes, clutches and release bearings) know that changing the gearbox oil will not silence a noisy release bearing. No Sir, he assured me, drive it for 500km, and you'll see the noise will be gone. Not being endowed with the cranium capacity of the Forsdicks BMW Service Staff, I decided not to question his judgement, and to drive the car for 500km to see if his analysis of the problem rings true. Sadly I have to report that the remedy had the opposite effect. So after giving Mr S the added benefit of an additional 500km of driving the car with the noisy release bearing, we decided to book it in for a follow-up.

On phoning Mr S to make the follow-up appointment, he remembered exactly who I was, and assured me that the end of the noisy release bearing is nigh. We booked the car in on Thursday morning, and I waited all day long for Mr S to grace me with a phone call, as he promised. At about 4pm I decided to give him a call to find out what is going on and if we can collect the car that afternoon. The call went something like this "Sorry Mr DJ I cant speak to you right now, I'll call you back in 5 minutes". Well, let me put it this way, I am still waiting for him to call.

We arrived at Forsdicks BMW at about 5pm to pick up the car. Only to be told that they didnt do anything to the car, as the computer didnt indicate any problems. Give the release bearing some more time for the gearbox oil to work through, Sir. And besides, he informed me, Forsdicks BMW is not allowed to do any major repairs without the approval of some ASSESSOR dude that needs be summonsed from Johannesburg, and I will have to fit in to his itenary. This is not the end yet, I was instructed to bring the car back again when the assessor was available, then they can see if the release bearing is really noisy. Now come on, you dont need Superman's hearing to detect the noise, I think most of the people from the School for the Deaf in Worcester would be able to tell you something is not right here. Needless to say, I reached the point where I could hold it in no longer, and told him where to get off and stormed out of there without finishing the paperwork.

Obviously Mr S got it from his boss, as he phoned me back at about 7:30pm that same evening to attempt to fix up the customer relations he so arrogantly trampled into the ground that afternoon. He made all sorts of promises about courtesy cars and appointments with the assessor and stuff, but then, (here comes the last straw) he promised to phone me back on Friday morning to confirm the final arrangements.

Friday morning came, and went. No phone call. At this time, I was pretty sure that Forsdicks BMW will never have the pleasure of seeing me or my immediate family on their premises again. They're obviously NOT in the same time-zone as me. But wait, there is more.... Saturday morning came and went, as did Sunday morning. Mr S finally got round to calling me on Monday afternoon to confirm the arrangements! When I asked what happened to the call on Friday morning, he was quick to reply that he did try to call me repeatedly on Friday, but got through to a fax-line. Still no apology was forthcoming, only excuses, just like Chuck Norris, Forsdicks BMW Service Staff do not apologise.... EVER!! I let him talk, he said something about the assessor coming down especially for my case on 30 June, and that I "have to" bring the BMW in on that date, so that I can plead my case with the assessor myself. Wow, and here I thought Motorplan covered it all, no questions asked!! After he finished his monologue instructing me (the client) on what to do and where to be, I just said yes, yes, yes and put the phone down. Us mere mortals MUST obey Forsdicks BMW Service Staff.

I was totally perplexed. It has been a while since I experienced such utter arrogance from anybody. Forsdicks BMW Tyger Valley never treated me like I was their client, it was more like they are the "boss" and I will fall in with their decisions and demands.

Finally I decided not to take it laying down, and called SMG Century City to find out what I can do about a BMW 130i with a noisy release bearing. The long and short of it is, BMW was booked in this morning (Wednesday), the fault identified, and they will replace the clutch, release bearing and whatever else is related, no questions asked. One snag though, we have to wait until Monday for them to do it, as they didnt have the spares in stock. That's okay, there was a public holiday inbetween as well. Difference is I was informed about the diagnosis, the solution and the outcome about 3 hours after we booked the car in. I feel like a client again..... It turns out Motorplan does cover it all, no questions asked!!

Oh wait, I forgot to include this gem in the story. Just before I stormed off the Forsdicks BMW lot the last time, Mr S informed me that the noisy release bearing is a "normal characteristic of the 130i, and there's actually nothing we can do about it". This was the reason why I had to explain my story to the "assessor".... :ka-boom::ka-boom:

Hi

Second fail for Auto Atlantic in Cape Town for me. Our BMW's clutch was replaced by them last year October. When I collected the car I specifically asked if they have replaced the fly wheel on the car as I know if it was not replaced I will have problems again. They told me that it was replaced together with the clutch plates, etc. Stupid me did not ask for a copy of the invoice.

Our car is currently at Donford BMW after complaining that the clutch is shuddering again after a mere 11 000km. I have requested a copy from Auto Atlantic for the clutch that was replaced and this clearly showed that they only replaced clutch plates. Not cool at all!!!

Thank you for Donford who is now fighting with BMW Motorplan to get the whole clutch + flywheel replaced again.

Will probably get the car back tomorrow and I will report on the work done after a couple of days.

amazing that you take the car to the "experts " and then have to check the invoice to see if the work they say was done is actually done.

Also an issue for the people who are less tech inclined.

I can ditto about "service" received from Mr S.

But in the same breath I have to praise Eugene at the same dealership.

How do they do there pre-owned inspection? went back and got courtusy car. They sorted out 50% of the problems. went back and got courtusy car again. 2 weeks later and still fighting the last battle the brakes, They tell me sir if the sensor light is not on then there is enought brakes. but by this time when you brake you hear the metal to metal of the pad and disck catching on the ridge and I even showed them for there is no sensor on the right front wheel. That was the final straw by this time I have already e-mailed BMW south Africa and I drove out there the afternoon straigth to Auto Atlantic and on my way there a guy from BMW South Africa also phone me and I told him what I was going to do. Got to Auto Atlantic and they replaced Discs and pads no problem since I went there. Stay away and let BMW Soth Africa know About Tyger Valley

Oooh lawd!

You want a bad experience? Let me tell you MY story.

A while ago I decided to purchase a BMW and sent out a request for a quote via the website. After getting about 3 responses, of which ONE was over the model I had specced [I mean, how damn stupid are you to send me quotes of BMW's that you have, when I have clearly given you my spec?], I decided that Sandton Auto would get my business> Major mistake number 1! The salesman was very helpful and what not, I placed an order to purchase and put down a deposit, as asked for by the dealership. I was told that it would take three [3] months for the car to get here. Since it was September, I figured January latest and went on my merry way.

However, January soon came and went and I had no order number, no estimated delivery date or any information whatsoever, all the while being told that it was on its way, another month or so and it would be here. Somehow my sales rep was fired/terminated and my new salesman was appointed. This was now around March, 6 [yes, SIX!] months and still no damn car! Again, the wait continued until around July when the car finally was here. It turns out that the car was due for a facelift and the "older" model had to finish its run and new production was set to begin after March. Not one salesperson told me that bit of information at all, I was kept in the dark the whole Fing time!

So the car comes through and I enjoy a few months of ownership until the first service, done at Sandton Auto. No hitches there but on my beige leather, some idiot mechanic decided it needed a little black....
I cleaned it up myself thinking it was just a little oversight and proceeded to have a few more months of enjoyment. However, a cable at the back of the roof frayed, resulting in a warranty claim. The part that needed to be replaced was ordered from Germany, however, twice it was the incorrect part, resulting in the whole roof being ordered!

With all that, I kept in contact with the dealership, constantly being given the run around and numerous excuses being made. Finally it went in, took a whole month for that and came back to me with scratches!

Do not, even if it is the last dealership on Earth that will service your BMW, go to Sandton Auto. Shit service is all they give! I have had it with them and they will never see my money. Ever.

Does anyone know of a good dealership in the South? Alberante in particular? Need good service, not shit service because you in Sandton![/font]

Auric Auto Claremont not good. Oil underneath car, as far as I could see was coming from oil pan gasket. Got charged R 8100,00 for repair, it wasn't oil pan, it was some breather on back of engine. Not covered by motor plan. Next morning new blob of oil on floor, so called w/shop manager. Bring it in he says. Took it in, receptionist says "no appointment, you cannot leave car here". Asked for w/shop manager, no he is too busy to see you, make appointment for next week. Next week: Turns out oil leak is a different pipe somewhere else. A further R 3300,00 to pay and replaced oil pan square cover (small plastic bit that cost R 170,00) which was missing (left off after first job but they ignored my complaint) . Complained in writing to Auric, no response whatsoever. After 10 months of nagging, finally got generic reply "workshop charges quite valid, we did not make mistake". Still oil coming out, but 10-15 drops a week. Turns out to be oil pan gasket, repaired by separate workshop for R 900,00.

So that is the last they see of me. Since then have had a few other minor issues, but all sorted by general motor workshop who are quite transparent about what they have to do.

I got really good service at BMW Clearwater.
This was the time I had to send my car in for the cam and crank sensors.
I actually towed the car to them one saturday morning, and they booked it in immediately. Got a quote of everything that was wrong by monday afternoon.
They actually went through the entire car and gave me a huge list of what had to be done (including brakes, filters etc.) I requested they only do the neccessary to get it going again since I needed the car in a hurry and was a bit limited on the budget. No problem! They replaced the sensors and intake boots etc. Doing the neccessary, But the best part is they replaced some other parts on the car and reinsulated some of the wiring in the engine bay (the previous owner treated the car like crap!!), and had the car cleaned (which wouldve been R90 btw) and didnt even charge me for any of it!!
I got the car back that Wednesday evening, the lady even waited for me as I could only be there after work.

I was really impressed, they really went the extra mile! Will definetely be seeing them again.
P.S I worked with Michelle. She was a great help!

Here's my horror story: (i type this while i should actually be working but hey i just had to)

once cracked the bleeder nipple on my e39, so in the morning drove straight to forsdicks bmw tygervalley to go buy a new radiator top hose, on the way there the car started overheating as i had qbonded the bleeder nipple shut (so as not to loose water, but this was a bad mistake) so if free-wheeled the rest of the way with the engine off. came to a halt RIGHT INFRONT of the bmw dealership.

ran to the parts dept, bought the top hose. then i thought id go to the service dept to see if they would help, you know since there is a broken down bmw standing right infront of their dealership..

they refused to help saying i would have to book the car in and i would have to wait a day or 2 to do this.
i was prepared to pay premium.

i ended up cooling the car down, then free wheeled to my regular mechanic, who sorted the problem out in 5min. free of charge.

i was on my way there in the first place, but the breakdown was unplanned...

Took my car in for a breaks replacement service at JSN last tuesday and all was fine until Sat night was 4Km from home when there was a screeching sound coming from the right rear disc, i thought it was just dust on the pad till I stopped completely and my car grinded to a very bouncy stop. So the Sun i took it round the block to see if the noise and feel was gone, but it hadn't as I stopped in the house the right rear brake ceased up and I can't get the car to move. Am contacting JSN in the morning so that they can tow my car and fix the damn problem properly!! and this coming from the same dealership I just ordered a new F20 from. :bangdesk: :argh::argh::argh:

well it does look bad for BMW having some guy fixing his car outside the dealer... what they should have done is help you push the car out of sight and let you work on it there not try extort money out of you...
