Dealership praise/horror stories

LOL, that's hilarious!! As a paying customer you have full right to specify or provide your own oil - been doing this for years with my cars! Sure, if it is somehow the wrong spec, tell me and advise me what to use, but most definitely don't tell me I have to use "X, Y and Z" because that's what you use... :nonono:

Sad to hear how paying customers get ripped off! Had my E90 323i serviced by Auto Alpina Boksburg up to 100k. Good services! After that I use to take her to Tune Tech. Shaun Singh and team :praise::thumbs:
I had to do an "emergency" oil service on my car, but TT couldn't assist me that day as they were already full. Anyways, booked her in with Auto Alpina Springs.....biggest mistake ever. Went in for oil change and 45kms down the road....engine packed up. Cause was sludge build up......R50k later and they refused to take responsibility!

Tune Tech . . .

Sent my car on Tuesday for an Inspection 2 service etc. On arrival was concerned about a few noises so Shaun personally took the car for a test drive to try and id the problems. Very efficient, knowledgeable and professional. Prices seems competitive, just good to have peace of mind knowing the car is in good hands.

There was even a RR Phantom there! :) No Pics of that tho...

From the experiences I've had thus far with them, will be using them for a very long time

VaalRidge Auto BMW, my choice for all my cars. Always friendly and never have a problem. My 530MLE now stands on their showroom floor on display.

AUTO ALPINA BOKSBURG wont ever see me again.

And as for MAZDA/FORD Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark.. farewell you bunch of idiots!!!

Not cool to hear what happened here Law :( When I was looking at getting my first BMW I also didn't have the best time at Auric Auto.

You definitely need to make a huge performance over this though, raise hell at the dealership!! Did they do any sort of inspection to mark down what scratches are currently on the car? What have you signed etc?

Once this is all sorted, tell them to shove it and go to SMG in Canal Walk instead.

People do not take pride in their work anymore...:nonono: This is unfortunately a huge problem in all industries.

My e46 went in for a service, so I looked up HelloPeter.com and regretted I ever bought the car. Search under 'BMW' and 372 reports for the last 365 days are presented - fine, one per day, but the majority are complaints and I did not see a single reply (on a sample of pages) of the dealer/main oke wot counts replying to the complaint.

Sad to say that BMW is listed on HelloPeter as one of the companies who does not reply to praise / complaints.

Try to visit BMW SA official Facebook page and you will see the lack of response on there, sometimes it takes months for them to remove spam messages, and a no go to respond to complaints.

A colleague of mine shared the following story with me today regarding Melrose BMW:

Colleague went for a test drive in a 2012 Model . Full payment was made for the car, and afterwards found out the car is in fact a 2010 Model, not a 2012 model as stated at the time of test drive.

Obviously this is a major factor that was misrepresented & colleague demanded a refund for obvious reasons. (before even taking delivery of the vehicle)

BMW Melrose is refusing to give a refund :thumbdo: AFAIK legal proceeding has started.

Quite Shocking!!! :nonono:

more details to follow as story unfolds...

I had exactly the same reply from them when I enquired about work that I want done, I explained that I understand they have profit mark ups on spares but I am willing to pay a higher labour rate, no deal, so I thought, then you don't want my business anyway.

Exactly!
I am the damn customer at the end of the day & it's my car so you put whatever fluid I am requesting in MY car, but no...... they like anti-Castrol cause according to them it sludges(Woteva that suppose to mean) LOL

Off topic, Sorry but Damn your car looks stunning.

Recently got a used 2008 320i from Auric Auto in Claremont, CT.
The buying experience was great but that's where it stopped.
2 days later the car was back due to a noisy aircon suction pipe I was told. As the car is under motorplan it was replaced. BUT - they said the oil sensor was dirty and not reading the level, which required 1.5L of oil to top up. The car supposedly went through a 20 point check and service before the sale. And they charged me R96 per L. I paid cash and they didn't have change to give me. Also, when I got home I noticed the bonnet was not closed properly on the left side. NEVER going to Auric again. SMG or Atlantic Auto from now on.

Whinging aside - I'm loving the car. What a dynamic upgrade from my 1994 Pajero. I see why you guys are here!

SMG in Century City rocks

That's where she's going next time. Still have to deal with Auric though as they still have to repair 2 chips on the bonnet. As agreed at the time of sale.

I used ARC at Alberante in Alberton recently, will NEVER take my car back again, I have never been subject to such kak service, feedback in my life before.......and then part of my car now has two patches of clearcoat missing, they say they never touched that section, I know better, have taken it up with the guy in charge, basically got a big 'fuck you'......
Since then I have heard nothing but horror stories, to the point that one person will never buy a BMW again, others will just not take their cars back for anything....my father in law bought about 5 cars from them, will never buy from them again, now uses Bruma BMW......sad that people can fuck up a good car's reputation......

Sandton Auto

Avoid at all costs, what a circus!

My car goes in for a simple diagnostic check (OBC warning) and sits there for days. Nice for the dealer's business I am sure as it is under motorplan.

My other car, not under motorplan, goes in to determine what the source of a noise is. I am given a long list of costly repairs that are needed to rectify the noise. I decline and subsequently take it to TuneTech who are able to fix the problem for less than R20.

I have lodged a complaint with BMW SA.

Hi Everyone

My car was misfiring over long distance and my brake ware indicator was on so i decided to send the car to Lyndhurst BMW which is around the corner from me for the following:

1. Replace front disks and pads
2. Diagnostic check (misfire)
3. Oil change
While the cars was there i was contacted and told that the right side control arm was worn and there was an oil leak? now my car has never leaked oil?? asked where was the leak, on the oil filter housing it was starting to sweat, and it would cost R5k to replace and repair extras. I said leave it for now
After 3 days got vehicle back, they replaced 2 ignition coils and the bakes were very noisy sounded like a train seriously! The following day started car and noticed large amount of oil in my garage after reversing out my brakes failed went rock hard and car would not stop, took car back to BMW..
After another 2 days car was ready for collection nothing was said about the oil leak!! Drove out the garage and noise was back!!! after testing vehicle with BMW "tester" pads were faulty and replaced with new ones, great got car back next day all was good until over 100km/h brake shudder not through steering wheel could feel it in the car...it was never there before???
Now by this time I had spent 10k and I got my car reversed into on back bumper scratched on the front right side bumper at BMW oil leaks plus misfire was permanent before it was intermittent...phoned the dealer and well they said bring the car back, dealer principle was not there, service advisor was not there...and I thought i would get 5 star service from a BMW dealer... I told them to go @#$% themselves...
Took the car to my friend in vanderbylpark skimmed the disks one was warped plus cleared errors.. No oil leaks looks like the mechi messed a large amount of oil which somehow worked its way out, Misfire gone shudder is still there but coming through steering wheel now.. i think it might be balancing and the control arm or skimming was not good enough..Going to take it to be checked will post outcome.
