\i tried to buy some transmission fluid from there. The service manager tells me that they dont sell any to "outsiders". They'll never see another cent of mine or anybody I know that has anything to do with a BMW. Fools.

Hi everyone,
I thought it may be a good idea to start a thread on good and bad experiences at dealerships across the country. Maybe we can then save a fellow fanatic from a bad experience. What do you think? Maybe mods can make it a sticky topic?

Is this normal. Bought demo 320i auto with 4000km on odometer. After 6 days oil warning light go on. 8000 km latere it used 4,5 litres of oil.

One of my friends got a 2007 530i with 88000Km on the clock from AutoAlpina Boksburg three ears ago. Since the beginning, the car used about 500ml of water each day. Since the car was still on motor plan, BMW services the car and never pickd up the problem. They told him that is is also normal for some of these engines.
Last week, he went to IntoCars in Benoni and they did a test on the cooling system and found that it looses preasure. After 2minutes on the ramp, they found a busted o-ring in one of the cooling pipes running from the expantion bottle. They replaced it for free and his car is now perfect.
Nice job BMW :thumbdo:

Was this car serviced at AutoAlpina for the duration of the motorplan?

Yes, and they even flushed and replaced the coolant. His motorplan ran out this year January. That's why he took it to IntoCars Benoni.

Big ups to Kent and Alberante, who took me into the workshop and showed me step by step, how the alignment is setup on my car and most ///M models for that matter.

Much appreciated, and will never be taken for a ride again.

Weights are needed to balance the car, and get the alignment figures withing the tolerances of Cast and Camber settings.

at standstill without anyone in the car, an ///M cars alignment figures will be in the red.

Good article in Noseweek a few months ago about BMW high parts prices and how they have gone to court to prevent other suppliers selling "pirate" parts. BMW tried to justify to the court the intrinsic, custom design of their parts.

Judgement is pending

The high cost of parts makes repairing BMWs that much more expensive and contributes substantially to overall higher insurance premiums. Take, for example an interior door panel for a 318i. This panel costs R 18 000,00. In the USA, you can get this same genuine BMW panel for $630.00 and an equivalent, third party part for $165.00. It is only plastic and stiffner with an airbag inside.

It's not just BMW

This week I booked a Toyota in for a service for Wednesday for a family member.

I then get an SMS confirming my service for Thursday (The third time they have fscked it up this way, they obviously never went to school or something)

I take the car in at 7am and no record of the service (Obviously because they cannot count days of the week) They take it in anyway. I arrive back at 16:30 because I have to be at work at 17:30 and the car is not ready, it actually has not been touched.

They only started the service when I arrived and I got the car back at 18:30, now I'm late for work, in shit with the boss and stressed because the staff at their wonderfull little coffee stall stuffs off at 16:30 on the dot together with the sales people.

While we are waiting we go look at the Hybrid Auris and get into an argument with the lone remaining saleswoman who is insistant the the 2006 Prius we own is not the "hybrid one" WTF, there is no other type and this chick really knows her products well....yeah right.

Drive off to work and the cubby falls out of the dash because they cannot put a toyota back together after changing the microfilter and there is oil pissing out the bottom of the car because they were too lazy to remove the sump cover when draining oil so they just drained it onto the sump cover.

So Thanks Helderberg Toyota (Rola group) you actually managed to beat BMW with bad service in a true South African tradition.

So a colleague of mine just bought a e46 m3.
He came to me today telling me he wants to do a oil change and I refered him to this website.

After reading some reviews for Tune Tech he the decides to phone them.

So now he puts the phone on speaker and eventually a guy by the name of Romeo picks up.

Anyway he enquires about the cost of the oil change and he specifically told this guy(Romeo) that it must be the OEM Castrol TSW 10w60 oil.
This guy replied saying repeatedly "No the boss won't be happy with it, we only use Mobil1" and I am cracking myself up in the background.

My collegue tells him to call the boss, and he then transfers the call to a woman by the name of Diba, once again explaining now to her the situation.
Her response was like(In a kak tone, almost like you the customer know nothing about bmw) "You can't take your own steak to spur, so this is my workshop and you can't bring your own oil, and I am going to hang up."

My colleague and I was like WTF? Why is it that they won't use the OEM spec oil?
Their phone etiquette sucks for a reputable independant workshop! :thumbdo:

I had exactly the same reply from them when I enquired about work that I want done, I explained that I understand they have profit mark ups on spares but I am willing to pay a higher labour rate, no deal, so I thought, then you don't want my business anyway.
