I was wondering if the belt wrapped around the pulley enough given that it is a custom bracket...

but if it has been running a perfectly with this belt and pulley and now is suddenly eating belts then it must be the tensioner as suspected

No custom bracket made for this kit. The bracket that holds the supercharger in place is the same bracket from VF engineering. It is rather annoying that it just decided to let go suddenly. Replacing the tensioner is no easy task, nor is it cheap. I am considering parking the car and just letting it sit for a few months while I concentrate on other more important things.

I though PSR made up a bracket for it...

LOL. I really got to concentrate on my next film and cannot let this car consume my time. So I don't mind letting her sit.

That being said, before we try the tensioner, I want to be 100% sure that it is the issue. So I'm going to try get belts that are 2065 or 2070 in size and see what happens. We know 2075 jumps off (possibly too big) and 2055 snaps in half (possibly too tight). So Something in between the two might work.

If it still comes off, then tensioner it is... but that will get replaced when I have made some more money.

Fucked if I know dude.... Sigh. It is most likely the tensioner. But I guess I am taking a stab in the dark and hoping it isn't.

I would double check all the pulleys maybe one is causing too much drag I know you had issues with the power steering pump

The day the charger was fitted I told him to remove the aircon and power steering pumps but he did not listen, now look what happened :nonono:

Power steering pump is brand new from ZF (OEM). It was installed last week. The old pump died (the old pump was an aftermarket piece of shit).

I am also thinking we should recheck all pulleys. A1exander has two other cars he is busy with, so they take priority. But we can look at them this weekend when he has finished with the other cars.

It would be sad to see this car standing because of not wanting to replace a tensioner. After all the time, effort and dollars put into it.

Fix it, fix it! :D

The blood, sweat and tears that have been put into getting this car back onto the road and to its former glory, cannot be forgotten. I'm gonna quote something a guy called Chris said a few weeks back... " if you don't have patience, modding is not for you " :D

You guys have come this far, Jez is testing to see if you willing to go all the way to get her. Climb this hurdle and experience that feeling of triumph and gratification that you felt every time something came right with her Chris.

The last thing you want, is while you working and trying to focus, the car and it's pulley problem must come into your head. However is work is demanding that you focus on work to put the meals on the table and pay the bills, then obviously that takes preference.

I sincerely hope you finish her up sooner rather then later, and frustration is something we always feel when we close to reaching our goal and hit a bump. Keep strong and be upbeat...that the way you've been this entire build.....[THUMBS UP SIGN][THUMBS UP SIGN][THUMBS UP SIGN]

sorry to hear Chris,a friend of mine had the same problem, belts kept getting chewed up on a 2l astra 95 model, after the third time changed the tensioner pulley and everything was fine.

on closer inspection of the bearing,it was slightly rough, but still turned freely,it seems though under tension would get more rough and causing it to stop thus belt would slip and get chewed.

hope this helps.and I hope you get it sorted:thumbs:

Hi Crash

You must make sure of the belt route there is two ways the belt can go on the one way i had mine on the belt slipped i then check the the route again seen there is way to route to give you more rap around the super charger pulley that sorted my belt slip out. Hope you find the problem good luck I'm sure it's something small

No I'm not joking I'm not a experted but have had a problem with belt slip and found i made a mistake in fitting the vortex belt differently than the intend way also not saying it's the problem but just make sure its corrected
