As previously reported the power steering pump which had stopped working is now working again.

Nothing was done to the pump so if anyone has an idea as to why it would have stopped working and now is I would be glad to hear your thoughts.
There are no fluid leaks from the system and the pump was not cavitating.

My thinking would be - some dirt in the system, may have blocked inlets or outlets or possibly a kinked or near kinked line.
It is rather strange though.:fencelook:

Vanes getting stuck closed due to dirt? Possibly freed themselves again. This the old pump? I thought u replaced it.

Was a day away from replacing. Literally was taking the car in the next morning to replace the pump... and it suddenly started working again. Car was resting on an incline at a traffic light when it suddenly started to work.

Hell, if it saves me money. Cool beans.

Crash,

My 2cents worth - try draining and refreshing the fluids in the system, Just to make sure that if there is any debris left over, that it is flushed out.

Something caused it to work erratically...so it might still be there.

Your approach of fixing things once, the right way is the right way to approach it, dont neglect it for too long.

I say remove the power steering and aircon because race car
added benefit is that biceps will get pumped up thus making opponents in drag wars fearfull.

Just a small update.
Car was delivered yesterday afternoon.

Stripped the charger off and we are currently attending to a small oil leak from the oil filter housing.
Have already ordered the gasket and will be collecting in the morning so hopefully by Monday we should be ready to install the other "stuff"

At the same time we will source the correct flow injectors so as not to blow the engine and we WILL also get another air filter (the air filter that was used temporarily is from the small engine that Chris was previously running the charger on) and locate it correctly so that the charger can breathe.

I shall post pics of the progress.

Relocated oil catch can.

Ran a new hose which is secured against the body.
Still need to get a small airfilter to vent.

looking good.

just a comment on the oil catch can- I found that using the small filter on the one fitted to my Ute- too many fumes entered the cabin through the ventilation fan. So I've ended up running a "breather hose" from the catch can and all the way under the Ute to the back axle.

May be something to keep in mind if you start getting headaches whilst driving the car.
