why they taking so long :argh:, do you atleast have transport in the meantime?

I have a rental car but only for 30 days..

hope you get sorted soon man. They will have to extend the rental car till they finalized the claim.

Is rental car indicated in the policy, or is it something you discuss with insurance after the accident?

It is part of the insurance policy up to 30 days.

Most insurances will replace the vehicle with a new one if written off or stolen in the first year of being insured.

Dont know why you insurance is giving you a hard time, unless they smell a fish. I hope the tread on all your tires were good and the car had an up to date license.

AF / Guardrisk giving me grief. The claims manager told me that they agreed to repudiate the claim because they are conflicting statements how i got home after the accident. So right now i have to buy a freakin Hyundai Atos just to use to go to work. They haven't sent the repudiation letter still dragging.

Dez,

You have a far more serious problem then that.

Get your car OUT of hallmark today.

If they repudiate your claim, you will be liable for storage and towing.

Currently, you are being charged R175 a day for storage at Hallmark/First towing.

Let the car sit at hallmark for 30 days, and your looking at 5k in storage.

I recovered a Getz the other day that was in storage for 59 days, towing and sotage was 16k!!!!

My old 328i individual was in "storage" and when I got it back my battery was stolen, the fuel lines were cut under the engine, the battery cover was stolen, the centre consol tape thingy was stolen, my back seats were swapped our for some fekked up crinkeled old shit that was like 20 years old and sitting in the sun for 10 years, my brand new water pump that I had fitted the week I had the accident was replaced with some old rusted siezed up skadonk of a water pump! My viscous fan was swapped out and ended up going through the bonnet. The carpet that covers the spare wheel in the boot was stolen...

Trust me its not in storage....its in a bloody "legal" chop shop more like. Get your car out of there ASAP. I don't even know if they swapped out other engine parts.

You see thats my problem with them. How i got home does not have anything to do with the claim, i asked the claims manager he couldn't give me an answer. So its my statement vs witness statement on how i got home.

So they claiming then that there was wrong doing on your part, that you was perhaps doing something illegal?

It just leaves such a bad taste when you read stories like these. Insurance companies are more than happy to take your money, but come claim time there is always a story. :thumbdo:

Word of advice: take out insurance with the manufacturer. Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all have their own insurance products these days. My Merc was insured with Budget before I found out about MBFS. Moved over and the benefits were more while the premium was less. Same with my 6-er.

Keep us updated.

This is BMW insurance administered by AF and Guardrisk the underwriters. They tell you this when there is a problem.

dez,

It's really such a pity you are going through such a difficult time with Insurance.

I reckon the only factors they would consider before they turn down your claim would be those listed on the policy (unless, in fact, you meet the exclusions criteria).

Mine is not completely over yet, my accident was far worse than yours and my Insurance has already issued a Loss Agreement and once I have de-registered the car, they will write me a cheque.
