The BMW i8 is set to receive more power, an increased range, new lightweight components, and changes to its chassis as part of a “comprehensive facelift”, according to a report by Autocar.
An improved power train will see the car produce around 313kW (420hp), stated the report, with the i8 retaining its petrol-electric hybrid motor.
More power combined with improvements to the car’s automatic gearbox means the new i8 should improve on its 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds and top speed of 250km/h.
Details on the new range of the upgraded i8 were not available.
The upgraded version of the i8 is expected to go on sale towards the end of 2017.
