For years now, G-Power has been churning out high-horsepower BMW s from its tuning factory, and the newest creation is its take on the sporty 1M model.

The German engineers at G-Power went straight to work on the 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline-six powerplant increasing its performance from 335-hp and 369 lb-ft of torque to 429-hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. The increase in power comes courtesy of an ECU retune, new downpipes, and a lightweight titanium exhaust that sheds 44-lbs compared to the stock unit.

G-Power claims that its 1M Coupe hits 62-mph in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 186-mph. But all the upgrades weren’t just done under the hood, as expected on a creation from G-Power. Coilovers allow for nine selectable settings each for bound and rebound, while the stock brakes were replaced with larger rotors and six-piston calipers. On all four corners are 20-inch Silverstone wheels mated to Michelin rubber.

Am I the only one who finds this mildly unimpressive. What comes to mind is my 1995 GTR with an equivalent value of tweaks makes close to 600whp... and thats from a 2,6l twin turbo motor. The 1M is a 3,0l twin turbo motor with 17 years development advance over the RB26 motor and is floundering in the 400's for flywheel hp. Maybe i am just jaded.

The power upgrade by GPower is within the expected power output for the mods done to the car...tune, DPs, and an exhaust. most X35s currently on the road with a Jb tune and DPs and the right fuel can push those numbers...I agree one would have expected a whole lot more from G- Power considering what it did with its SC cars...

but remember the X35s are already pushing 600hp + with full bolt-ons and stock internals.

The GPower kit is an okay kit for those that wants a little more power than stock...but the price may put it out of most peoples reach anyway...
