One month after buying the car I had to go overseas on Business and thought it was the perfect time to send the car in for a Carbon Clean.

They gave me the footage:

I put a short video clip together, crazy how bad these cars get.

Update on the Build,

Due to this COVID-19 nightmare, salary cuts and and and I finally got the block in to re bore at a local engineering shop, should have it back in a couple of days.

My Aluminium valve cover from VTT was shipped yesterday from the USA (This F@$&*... thing is going to be the most expensive VC in the world and the most traveled)

I purchased it in February and shipped to one of my suppliers in Rhode Island, $85.00 shipping and some TAX, I got to the USA and had to fly back 3 days later due to COVID ended up shipping to Florida, $54, Now its on its way to SA $220 + VAT+Duties, crazy could have saved my self 10k if the guy shipped it 2 days earlier.

Good thing is I will now have all the parts I need to put the motor together, after that it is oil cooler upgrade and fit motor.

will update with pics when the package arrives.

Nice ( but costly ) build.

Are you planning on plugging the head ports up to prevent any future carbon build up?

Are you planning on doing both a high and low side catch can setup? i had a high side setup for years and it didnt catch more then a spoonful of oil. I got a bms low/vacuum side OCC as a present last year but havent done much mileage to report back on its effectiveness.

Ports are blocked off, I had the BMS boost and Vacuum catch cans and they did not really help, this is the reason I got the VTT VC.

That said I think the motor had too much sump pressure and the Valve guides were done and that caused the smoking and timing drop issues.

I have found several articles that mention that these cars at hi boost will smoke (But not hectic), the hi pressure side did not really gather any oil, low side did but it still smoked.

I will use both, you have to use vacuum side if you block the 6 ports, I will also use a vent valve on the oil filler cap.

Yeah its very dependant on your actual driving style, apparently the high side OCC only works when you go WOT, whereas the vacuum side works all the time...

From what i see, you havent skimped on anything during your build, you've fitted good quality parts and components throughout and i hope this helps you realise the power figures you are aiming for.

please keep us posted on when you do receive and fit your very well travelled and costly valve cover though

Build Update

So the Valve Cover and fittings arrived today, one step closer.

The re-bore is complete, I have balanced Piston, Rings and wrist pins and will double check again after ring gaps have been checked.

I still need to balance Crank and rods.

couple of pics:

So I decide to bite the bullet and buy an upgraded crank hub.

I chose the VTT one for a couple of reasons, Price and ease of installation that said it would not make a difference because the motor is stripped down.

on receiving i realized the shaft on the upgraded one is +-1.5mm smaller than the original one (Where the oil pump gear fits) apparently i just need to buy the newer sprocket/gear and it will work. I have ordered one so will find out later today.
