Cost? To get it here? Import duty?

I'll let you know!

~40% of purchase cost as import duty and ~1000 quid shipping and ~R7k clearance kak.

Wow, that is really not that much.

As long as you get a decent car for OK money it will be fine. I have already totally overspent though!

Lovely... lovely... lovely...

I imported a R33 GTR and went through the same trials and tribulations. My permit did not take that long, but the registration process was a 4 month ball ache.
I too have been looking for a csi for as long as I can remember and the one i lust after is in JHB and will just never come on the market. I might just buy one on fleebay and park it at a mates house in the UK till i get the permits sorted out.

Yours looks like a steal! I have seen CSi's going for 10K and more.
Beautiful car.

Is this car being purchased under a collectors license? Any limitations on using and selling the car?

Registration, I have a dude who does it all for me in 2 weeks!
Finding a E24/2 in manual is bloody difficult, 95% of the £10k cars are E24/3 highlines and Autos, slower, heavier and running lower compression and not as pretty as the chrome bumper E24/2's. The one I got needs work, I will end up spending more than I paid for it, but, it is the 10:1 motor and a much lighter car. 1983 - 1987, the best 6ers!

Yes, collectors license. Can't sell for 2 years after registration.
As I mentioned, the cunts in the motor industry are trying to get rid of the collectors permit, claim it hurts sales. Total cuntbags, collectors permits account for 0.05% of car purchases. So for then it's ok for unscrupulous bastards to export our motor heritage but we can't import some back! :argh:

I'm so happy that there is another one coming here. The car looks really good. My 81e24 needs a shed load of money to get it back to the right condition. And as for now I hope I never have to sell.

'94? You mean '84 right? Speak to Johan, it's all good to bring one in.

Mate, I haven't even driven mine yet and I'm spending retarded amounts of money. I have always been obsessed by these cars! I am having to sell a classic Cooper S to fund this stupid BMW which is worth less than the Cooper but will cost me more!

Once you drive it, it will make it all worth it.

+1 I love my 6... even with all the problems. All I have to do is go and look at it:) It stood on the road for a few days while it was in no start phase and every time I drove up to the house and saw my 6 I had renewed incentive to get it running again.

If I had a penny for every time I overheard this conversation around the car: "Wow, what is that??!! It a six series, dude. Nice:)"

Update:

23rd February:

A large list of work needs doing, currently decided to tackle the faults in the front suspension and steering first, have replaced cross member, and found further damage to some of the components. Have had to replace:

D/S suspension leg - V.rusty
Centre steering drag link
O/S steering ball joint.

Also rear panel corrosion to be replaced with good 2nd hand one.

I expected a fair amount of work to be done, looks like there might be more than expected..... :( It will be worth it in the end hopefully.
