RTFM has its advantages.

I shall be sure to apply that dictum next time.

Call me an old fart if you will but I do believe that the OEM Bosch system is ideally suited and by all accounts slightly more economical.

Starting to agree Peter. She is running better now and the idle is rock solid. I have a suspicion that when you replaced cracked/perished pipes and manifold the vacuum system was altered significantly hence shit running. I am going to continue to mess around this week and see what I can do.

Right, to quell the nagging I had Helga washed and waxed this morning with a little leather treatment. Days like this I heart my Shark :inlove:

Note the new lights, wheel covers and unbutchered center console!

So fucking pissed off I wan't to stab people. After spending R15k having my head redone in the UK, it's now been fucked by cowboy tuners in SA.

Leakdown test revealed that there is an 80% leak through no.6 inlet valve.

Head is now off and you can SEE where the fuckers at the dyno had advanced the timing so much the valves were hitting the pistons.

Head is now at engineering for sorting, hopefully no bent valves, how can people be so stupid??? If the car isn't running right in the first place, why push it as hard as you fucking can to try and 'fix' the issue?!?!!?

At least the M30 is a cheap and easy motor to work on, should be back together in no time.

Care to give us a heads up on who F'ed it up? Name and shame bro...

Ooops.

So clearly the spitronics is a pile of $H!T at the very least and the damage on the head would have been caused at the prior to the Rosslyn facility if I were to hazard a guess.

Seats will be cut.

Yeah, problem is I don't know who fucked it. Rosslyn place corrected some faults from the first place, but made it run lean according to the third place who tried to advance timing, probably too much.

Just can't find a decent fkn tuner any where. I don't think the Spitronics is complete shit, I just think it's too basic and no one knows how to use the bloody thing. The place in Rosslyn was recommended BY Spitronics themselves.

If you don't mind me asking... what was wrong with the original engine management? Is there plan for a turbo?

Looks like monkey number 3 didn't know what he was doing and altered the cam timing resulting in the pistons hitting valves...:bravo:
You advance/retard the timing of the spark, not the camshaft!!! That was the point of fitting the cheap EFI right?

One of your wheels cost more than that "management" system you running there, considering you doing a proper restoration to last for years to come I would consider going back to the better stock management system.

I think 3rd place was advancing spark and probably over revving it. My rev-counter under-reads by about 1000rpm.

So over this.

e34 535i ECU, wiring and a few sensors should run it really well, if you want more out of it then fit a Dastek Uni Q to piggyback the stock ECU.

Yeah, was planning to return to stock ECU and go for a piggyback.
I was thinking PerfectPower. There systems are used globally not just our little back-water

1. Random hot/cold/cutouts
2. Wanted more power
3. Was chipped for sea level and was running very rich in JHB, O2 sensor buggered maybe.

Refit the stock ECU, take the car to Ross @ RBTS Racing and have him fit a Dastek UniQ, its way more stable than the perfect power and has local support too. Ross is the only guy I let touch my cars, known him for +15 years and he seriously knows what he is doing. I learn so much with every conversation I have with him.
