I want to see that Ferrari in the background!

Awesome work man! Are you going to leave the cats in the branches?

Car has now covered some 240000Kms.

It is time for the rear suspension to be done as well as the fuel tank which has sprung a leak.

The 7s are known to make a booming sound when the fuel tank is less than half full.

Something to do with vacuum and the purge canister.

I will equally be changing the ABS controller as mine has given up the ghost.
In addition a new radiator will be fitted as the old one has sprung a leak. I have no idea as to why radiators do not last on these cars.

Gearbox mounting and propshaft guibo will be changed along with all fluids.

I read through this thread again and looking at the pics I had to laugh.

Your driveway used to have so much room for activities.

Stripped the ABS unit as I had the trifecta lights on and off.
Also had to change head cover gaskets as there was a leak so whilst at it changed plugs.

The ABS control unit which retails for R19000 at the agents and R14000 at BOSCH.
Secondhand units from IPC at R4500 however given that these units are known to fail I decided for a new one

Also fitted a new radiator as the old one had started showing signs of it being ready to explode.

Whilst my wife was driving she said that the car had a severe vibration on pull off.

That's a serious Guibo failure right there!

Just went through this entire thread. Well done on some outstanding work man. Looks epic and the results are outstanding with regards to how the engine liked afterwards! :praise:

Front discs after 60000Kms
The car is on its second set of front brake discs and still had the original rears which will be changed now.

Notice how thin the rear anti roll bar is.

Rear suspension arms stripped as they will be replaced along with the balljoints (aka pitman bushes)

And this is where the bushes ball joints sit
I bought the tool from the agents to ease the removal and will post pics as soon as I get to it.
The rear tyres started wearing on the inner shoulder as the toe cannot be be sustained when the bush is worn.
This is a common problem with BMW rear suspensions.

I couldn't afford either of those amounts
Thru the help of Gerd, and yourself (I think) I was put in contact with an electronics company in Kempton
R3300 later, but all good now...almost a year ago

Lemforder rear suspension parts.
Waited a long time for them to arrive thank you for organising Sean (axis engineered.com)

Gearbox mounting from agents don't ask R2800

Apologies for breaking into your (stunning) thread, but I suspect the valve-stem seals of my e38 740i (8/98) are leaking. Where would you suggest I take it to?
