So I didn't manage to get a photo of the car.. yet.. I will work my way through old photo albums over the weekend at my folks' place.
From what I can understand, the engine was taken out, and new oil rings ordered from overseas, but on delivery, one of them was broken.
Now I am playing with the idea of dropping the old motor and just replacing it with a running unit from an old 520. On the one end, I want to see if I can squeeze a 2,8 engine in there, but on the other hand I would like to keep it as original as possible. I know it has two Stromberg sidedraughts on, but these were messing us around back then already, so I think it;s time for two new Webers.
I suspect I will find a host of problems, as this car has been in storage now for at least 8 or 9 years.
