That is very clean!
Not to hijack the thread, but have any of you ever used Castrol Magnatec?
Reason for asking, I used it for many years on my Corollas. Always found it to be a good oil and the agents seemed to be happy with it too - I always supplied the can of oil and ensured that I got it back with the remaining amount. Anyway, for the last two years before my Corolla was stolen I was noticing a "hot" oil or grease smell after stopping at a robot or stop street. It was coincidentally just after I had the wheels balanced and rotated when I spotted that a lot of grease was "painted" onto the hubs - my first thought was, well the brakes are getting hot enough to almost burn off the excess grease which did make some sense especially since I was noticing this mostly after coming down hills etc. Had them remove the excess but still smelt this for a while. And then I eventually didn't pay much more attention to this until the next time I had the wheels rotated - told the guy to not put any grease on the hubs, fine. Then around about the same time the car went in for service with me supplying the oil once again. Got the car back and the smell was now horribly noticeable.
I then tested this:
1.) I drove down a hill as normal and at the bottom stopped - got the smell.
2.) I drove down the same hill, but instead let the car coast out of gear using just the brakes to stop - no smell...
No oil leaks and the Valve Stem seals were ruled out after a few idle for a few minutes and then rev tests. There was oil consumption but something like a pint every so many thousand KMs - quite reasonable. Not once did I see any smoke - my SO followed me down a hill on one of the tests and I could see her waving her hand to indicate the strong oil smell, and still no smoke.
I think the oil was maybe a bit thin for the engine's age and what was happening was that on compression there was a small quantity of oil that was being sucked through a breather and going into the intake manifold during the combustion (non-combustion due to closed throttle) and exhaust stroke - the oil was not being "burnt" but merely super-heated and vaporised. You could smell it but not see it and even the bumper which was white showed no signs of smoky and oily emissions.
I know that the VW boys had major problems with this oil on their turbo cars, the 1.8T etc. The Magnatec oil was not well suited to the conditions of a turbo charged engine and would very easily develop thick sludge in the engine...
